I don't have experience with vettes yet, but around 25 rwhp and slightly more torque is a typical gain for Ford's 4.6L v8.

Certainly not out of the question for a long tube header on the LS2.

There is a noticeable difference between my car and my dad's '07 convertible. I'm not sure how much of an increase in hp you would need to physically be able to feel it, but I'm sure it would have to be at least 15-20hp.

Thats about right or even a little low. A lot of people with long tube headers, regardless of brand, have been known to get even more.

Something to think about.

completely! However, get a tune to maximize the header performance.

That's what I was thinking. Are people getting 25 or more hp with just headers and no tune? Certainly the tune is getting you something by itself, no?

Agreed. I have heard for many years now that Corvettes leave the factory with somethnig left on the table.

[edit] Actually have seen proof...before / after dyno runs. [/edit]

Wow! That would be impressive. I know that Headers provided those type of actual gains on the Muscle Cars of the sixties and early seventies but I didn't think the gain would be that significant over the more modern systems in our Corvettes.

Your post is just in time. I have the Corsa Sport exhaust system on the way. (06 C6 A6) Originally that was as far as I was going to go. But, you know how some of us are I have never done any mods like this to any of my cars. Ya don't put headers and exhaust systems on the family grocery getter. This is my first Vette and I would like it to be just a bit more than stock just for "S's & G's"
Now for my question. You got the LG headers. What exhaust system do you have or will be changing to. AND.. DOES ANY MEMBERS HAVE A RECOMENDATION OF THE OVERALL BEST HEADERS TO GO WITH THE CORSA EXHAUST. HOW DIFFICULT ARE THEY TO INSTALL? CAN IT BE DONE IN THE DRIVEWAY IF YOU HAVE RAMPS AND TOOLS.? DO YOU NEED A TUNE AFTER?
Thanks Steve in Summerville

Check out Kooks headers at
http://www.kookscustomheaders.com and click on products.
They have a system that was designed for the Corsa system on an C6 A6, with Cats.

all modern cars are pretty fat on the a/f ratio. this '06 that I have was in the 10.8/1 a/f range when I dynoed. most tuners strive for 12.5-13.0/1. Header swap and tune is like peanut butter and jelly....they go together, so it's difficult to place values on each item. together, they should make more than the sum of doing each mod independently of each other.

Default I was Wondering...

...just the other day why my 2007 Corvette was so slow.

I am only able to pass and meneuver around everyone I want, when I want, on the highway.

Reaching 100 mph in less than 10 seconds just feels like....well, lets say....forever.

The massive amount of power and torque I get in second gear, especially between 30-50 mph is underwhelming.

The fact my car only runs neck and neck with the new $379 Lamborghini Mercielago LP640 0-40 mph, and is a mere 2/10ths of a second behind it 0-50, is just not satisfying enough for me.

Help!!!!

Default Long, Short, Thick of Thin. Which will WIN!

We have had a lot of discussion on headers on this Thread. How about a little advice from the Seasoned Members to some of us late comers. Local shop says long tube headers have problems with codes. Can you get around that? Is there a noticable gain with long tube. Is there any benifits or pluses with the short tube? Does anyone run 1 7/8 " headers on an 06-c6-a6? Have a Corsa axel back exhaust to go along with "somerthing forward"
thanks for the help

I believe that Glennhl got 26 RWHP and another 39 ft/lbs of torque at the wheels with LGMs (LG Pros) headers, and he has no tune. And his car is an automatic. Had it been a manual, it likely would have shown a tad more of a RWHP gain, and thus putting him a a bit closer to a 30 RWHP gain with headers and a stock tune.

So yes, headers definitely work on these cars, and IMO are only second to gears if its a manual, or a torque converter/ and or gears, if its an automatic, in terms of bang for the buck. Assuming you rule out nitrous.

Quit being such a whiner and go drive your freakin' Lambo!

Jimmy

P.S. Should the LP640 become "underwhelming", I will make myself available for an in-depth (and lengthy) evaluation of this clearly unsatisfying Italian poser car
