Anyone else have a problem with the covering on the steering wheel wearing through? Haven't even had the car a year yet. This can't be real leather....... wonder if wheel replacement would be covered under warrenty? Saw an ad on TV the other day, think it was for a Saturn something or other anyway looked like it had the same wheel they just stuck a different emblem in the center WTF!

This has been a problem and yup the Saturn has the same wheel
Yea unbelievable huh. So wonder if I can get a replacement under warrenty, although I am not anxious to have the dealer do anything to my car maybe I'd get an 07 wheel with those "nifty" radio controls
GM is not known for using premium leather, and your oils from your skin will eat away at the leather wheel. Now,this would take quite a while to happen,so I guess you have some other serious defect.I always wear driving gloves that cover the palms to reduce exposure of said oily skin.Doesn't matter who you are by the way,we all have certain oils in our skin.WARRANTY the wheel.
That must result from a lot of 'white-knuckle' driving. I'd certainly try to have the steering wheel replaced under warranty. It sounds like unreasonable, premature wear to me. GM would not have any obligation to upgrade your steering wheel...only to provide a like replacement.

Appearently, the Vulcan death grip is in use here ....
Are you sure that you're not holding on too tight! Mine is over a year old and no perceptable wear. Maybe you got a bad piece of leather. See your dealer and ask that it be replaced under warranty. Good luck.
2006 with 18k miles, no "wear" but I sometimes scrape the steering wheel leather with my Glock when getting out of the car. Occupational hazard, I guess. It helps to have the wheel "centered" when entering/exiting, because the wheel is not exactly round and this will give more clearance along the bottom. Fortunately, the leather seems to mostly "heal" itself after a few days.

Yes. I think it is because I loaned my Vette to Freddy Kruger last Halloween.
