One of the criiticisms that many of us have heard over and over again is that the mateials used for the interior of the C6 is substandard, that the seats aren't that supportive and that the leather for the seats is below par. Personally I have found the interior of the C6 to meet my needs, but since there's been so much criticsm from the interior connoisseurs, why not offer an interior upgrade. I would have to believe that for around $5K, GM could make the interior of the C6 to be on a par with what is being offered by BMW or Porsche. GM could offer it as a premium interior package for those who insist on the best quality interiors. Although I'd never pay the extra money, maybe others would, and it would certainly help to deflect some of the criticism about the C6's mediocre interior.
...with the comments on the seats. I just took delivery of my '07 vert. The car is awesome compared to my C4 (which I loved). The only exception based upon my initial reaction is the seats. The sport seats in my '94 were much more comfortable. No complaints about the rest of the interior though.
The whiners about the interior are a small minority, I doubt it would be feasable or cost effective for GM to offer that at a reasonable price. Like it or not the Corvette has always been a reasonably priced sports car for the masses. It was never meant to compete with the quality of the other overpriced supercars. The Corvette can hang in with the best that the world has to offer at a price that is lower than the sales tax on most of the others. The 06 is my 15th Corvette and it is by far the best ever produced by GM, interior included.
I think then people would complain that it should come standard. For me the seats were comfortable enough to drive the car 1200 miles home with no problems.
I'd like to see an interior upgrade option but frankly, I'm not at all dissatisfied with the C6 interior....it works well-enough for me.
Years ago after I bought a new 5 series BMW, my friend took his first ride in my new car....his first comment was how "cheap" the interior of the BMW looked and how much plastic there was. I guess we all have different expectations.
You know, I read alot about the seats. I've got the base seats, and they fit me absolutely perfectly. Keep the leather moist with conditioner and wear should not be a problem.
Seats, seats, seats... The seats are an improvement over my C5, but GM could have done better. Ever sit in one of the new GTO's? Great seats.. Other than that, I am very happy with everything about my car.
I like the seats just fine. I'm not a big guy though and I fit in them quite nicely. My only change is that I will add some wet okole neoprene seat covers because I workout frequently and don't want any sweat potentially wearing out the leather prematurely. Either that or I'll just use some leather conditioner. Other than that I'm fully satisfied. I had a Honda with leather seats and they were so slippery it was annoying. Not a problem with this vette.
The interior didn't bother me when I looked at a C6 and I have a M3 I'm leaving to move to it. The seats in the C6 aren't a plush as the M3's but they're comfortable enough for the driving I do.
You don't buy a Corvette for the interior, you buy it for the performance.
I couldn't believe how bad the interior quality was on the C5 (on par with what I'd expect from a 1985 Hyundai) but I'm actually quite happy with the interior of the C6 (3LT). It's not 'plush' by any means, but it looks fine by me and I wouldn't have wanted the price to go up for better materials.
And regarding the seats, I guess I wasn't aware that so many had problems with them. I'll have to do a search and see what's wrong. They fit me really well at 6'0" 185lb.

My '99 911 had an interior that was no better than the Vette and the car cost $30K more (in 1999!). I was very impressed with what Chevy did with the C6, with the only exception being the ash tray door (mine droops a bit) and the carpeted floor mats. BMW charges extra for their mats, so I guess that isn't a valid complaint. I find the seats to be great, comfortable on the long trip and supportive in the twisties. The long and short of it seems that as all the manufacturers go to snap in panels, plastic all over, and cheaper production methods the quality goes down, regardless of whose name is on the car. Chevy should be commended for the design and production (especially when the price factor is added in).

Reason: grammer

Nah, they'd just b*tch because it wasn't free.
besides, there is a car with an upgraded interior, it's called "Caddy..."
For that kind of money, I'd rather do it myself on the aftermarket ... and having virtually unlimited choice of colors, materials, designs, etc ... and part of the joy of making the car your own.
