Default 08 model

Is there anything in stone on '08 HP bump or other changes. I have read some about color change but haven't found anything about the HP bump that has been discussed. Thanks

Nothing in stone..........but it's a REALLY good bet that the base will have 425 and the Z51 will have 435.

Lot's in stone. All of the corvette engineering team and platform executives know exactly what's coming..........they just haven't released any of it yet.

As God is my witness, I swear this is a true story. At the Houston auto show last year, I went up to a lady at the Chevy display where they were showing a Trailblazer. I asked if it was going to be offered with the 5.3 liter DOD V8 (as I had read in a magazine). She told me she didn't think it was going to be offered because the DOD version would not fit in the engine compartment (the non-DOD was already an option in it).

I'm constantly amazed at the fact that the manufacturers hire people who don't know squat about the cars to represent them at the shows. The same type of thing happens regularly at the San Francisco auto show.

Yea, I also hear that the DOD takes up alot of room. I sure with a big enough hood scoop they could accomodate it.

It was in the latest versions of Motortrend and I think Car&Driver the new LS3 '08 engine would only have 403hp. Whether it was a typo (430) or there a just quoting what the LS3 makes in other vehicles I do not know.

I can't see them changing engines for 3 (documented) horsepower.

No, what they said was that the Corvette was going to get the LS3 that in the Cadillac makes 403 horsepower. GM has a history of derating our engine in other cars so that nothing has more horsepower than the halo car (Corvette).

They are not changing engines for no reason. The Canadian plant that makes the LS2 is closing. GM is trying to reduce inventory complexity. Witness our steering wheel that is in practically every other GM vehicle. There is more commonization to come and I am sure we will not like some of it.
