Default jack question - which do you have?

I was looking to buy a jack to do double duty -- lift my 4200 lb 1996 Impala SS, and 07 C6.

Wondering what jack you guys use, and any opinions good or bad you have on yours. Also, how low does it need to be to get under the car -- will a 5-1/4 inch tall jack work, do I need a 3-3/4 inch low-profile jack?

I was looking at the AC Delco 1-1/2 ton racing jack, p/n 34745; a very, very similar-looking model also appears on the Craftsman website, but seems to have split reviews; some folks love it, a number of others seem to complain that it failed -- but I wonder whether they were exceeding its load rating -- anyone here have any experience with one?

thanks for any advice anyone can offer.

Mark

I got the Omega 29023 and love it. It has a very long reach and is very low to the ground,, plus it is very resonable.

I use a modded Craftsman aluminum 2 ton floor jack with the Northern Tool adaptor beam(s). I do have to drive up onto a couple boards to have enough clearance in the front.

The floor jack was modified per Professor Moriarty's DIY....
