I recently had my C6 tinted. I got a heck of a deal too, but the back window, (which i made sure was done in one peice) never adhered properly to the bumps that are near the roof. The owner of the shop had to do it himself and said that i need to bring it back by in a few days, but if he still cant get it to adhere what should i do? Anyone have this problem?
A lot of cars have this problem. I have seen a few Vettes that the tint was perfect on, but most have this problem. I know a few people that painted the dots black.
From: Boca Raton Inlet, Atlantic Ocean (Floridas east coast)
I heard about the painting thing also, and if you dont have a really good tint shop it will be your best bet. My company did an excellent job with the "dot matrix", near perfection so it can be done.
I don't want to hijack the thread but I have a question. Do any of you have problems seeing out the back of your coupe with the top off and in the back? I have a black vette and the top in the back literally blacks out my back window with the tinting. I think it is a pure reflection thing. Do others have this problem and know of a cure? The tint is about to become history because of it.

Thats happens to me too. It happened before I got the tint too though. It just a bad side effect from having the top stored in the rear.
My rear glass tinting is acceptable to me....there's a short, thin strip (maybe 1" wide) near the top of the glass where the tinting does not lay perfectly over the dots....it's close but not perfect. If you get close and really look you can notice it but it doesn't detract from the general appearance of the car so I let it be.
only complaint is that its not dark enough...damn Tejas laws.
while they installed I was watching how they tinted the rear, They used some sort of sos pad to "file" down the bumps so the tint would stick without bubbles.
i have the exact same problem with the rear tint. In My case they did not tint ANY of the area with the "dot Matrix" and sort of cut arround it so theres about 7" w/o tint looks like **** in my opinion. The so called "professionals" mentioned the paint thing too NO -WAY!! there on crack..
i have seen many other vettes and similar cars with the matrix don just perfectly. so i will have it re-done at a Real shop.
it will do for now untill i can get the time to go through that ordeal again.
and time w/o a car

Me too, I have taken all my cars to the same guy and he generally does a great job. I think this was his first Vet, but he told me beforehand that the dots could be a problem.
Best thing is that he is very careful. Car came back to me with no scratches inside or out.
My tinter told me to take a microfiber towel or a soft sponge and with some pretty hard pressure press the film into the dots for the first week or so. (It helps if the film is hot like from sitting in the sun). This makes the film bend around the dots and gives the adhesive a chance to catch. After a week the film had pulled up to the glass and I could see only an occational, very small, white area around some of the bigger dots. From more than 3-4 feet away you couldn't see anything. After almost two years the film is still in place.
