My dealer had two Vettes in the shop which gave me assurance that they can do a superb job. One of the Vettes was a black '07 Z06 whose roof panel had flown off. I was allowed to go into the shop to see it and they cranked it up for me. For sure the car was no longer under warranty because when it was started it sounded like it was ready for the Nurburgring. Headers, exhaust, cams and whatever else that can be done to an engine must've been done to that Z06.
Not a bad idea since they have to remove the rear fascia. They have to remove the rear fascia for two reasons. Number 1, they won't tape the the fascia to paint the fender because then the paint won't be feather edged, a little ridge would be created otherwise, and Number 2, the scratch on the fascia has to be repaired separately and a 'flex additive' has to be added to the paint to paint the fascia. Both parts (fender and fascia)cannot be repaired as one piece.
Getting it repaired at Nash Chevrolet here in Lawrenceville. The mishap happened not too far from Sugar Hill where you seem to be from. I was at friend's Lake Lanier lake home for the 4th.
Wayne O, I own some acreage in Arizona about 15 miles from Sierra Vista and about 10 from Bisbee. Know where I'm talking about? If I find a buyer for that land I'll buy a Z06, black on black with black wheels and tinted windows.
I spent $100 on color matched door handle grips but now since I have this little bit of repair that includes painting, the guy at the body shop agreed to paint my black original grips Atomic Orange at no extra charge. Now, if I can sell the pair of painted grips to someone for $100 I can say that my repairs came out to $700 instead of $800. I was thinking of anything else that I can have painted Atomic Orange with any extra paint they may have left from my repairs. Any ideas out there?

How exactly can a supposedly fixed Z06 roof fly off?
-I agree, there seems to be a lot of bad luck around here lately. It seems like everyone in the last 2 weeks either got hit by a rock, got crashed into, or just something unpredictable happening..... I wasn't unscathed either, because I got my first rock chip on my hood. Luckily I was able to patch it up, but still upset about it even though no one notices it but me. But that is how us Vette guys are.....
A number of Corvette owners are experiencing bizarre roof panel separations while driving. On certain 2005-2006 models, the painted roof panel will separate from its frame "if it is exposed to stresses along with high temperature and humidity," GM said. The occupants of the vehicle may notice one or more of these symptoms: a snapping noise when driving over bumps, wind noise, poor roof panel fit, roof panel movement/bounce when a door or hatch is closed, or a water leak in the headliner. "Dealers are to apply adhesive foam to ensure proper adhesion, or in a small number of vehicles, replace the roof panel," the company said. The Leftlane Perspective: Tip: be sure to glue the roof of your flagship car on properly the first time at the factory. (More at the CorvetteForum).

Here's some verbiage on the NHTSA notice of a recall for some 2005-2006 Vettes whose roof panels might just jettison themselves into the wild blue sky. If you find yourself behind one of these Z06s, beware of a potential flying roof.
'Separately, NHTSA said General Motors Corp. (NYSE:GM - News) is recalling 30,793 Chevrolet Corvette cars from the 2005-2006 model years as the adhesive between the roof panel and the frame may separate and the roofs could fly off.
"If there is a complete separation, the roof panel may detach from the vehicle and it could strike another vehicle and cause injury and property damage," NHTSA said'
