Hi Keyplyr - can you tell me what this radio upgrade is, and how to tell which version software I have running my NAV radio? Is there an SB out for FM static, or is this a common problem?
My car is a new 2006 I've owned for five days -- so if the radio (or ECM for that matter) should be reflashed with a new program, I'd like to have that done soon!
thanks,
Mark
The radio upgrade was for a common problem with FM static. I have an 05. You may not have this problem with an 06. It was just a software upgrade, no hardware was replaced. Prior to this I had to push AM, then back to FM to get rid of the static. Now, no static at all, except the normal stuff that sometimes occurs near high power lines, etc.
Sorry, I have no idea how to tell what version of software you have in your 06 but as said in an earlier post, if it ain't broke, don't fix it
That could be a big problem for someone like me who lives 15 miles from the Mississippi river.
That would be me, I live 20 minutes from downtown St Louis on the Illinois side of the Mississippi and currently I have to change regions between Illinois and Missouri.
I hope changing DVD's doesn't wipe out the destination programmed and can be done on the fly.
This info has been out there for some time now. The next "major" update will be their usual annual update, which comes out every fall. It should be "Version 4.0," which is irrelevant to GM since they use part numbers to determine whether you have the most recent one. If you have a version 3.0, my advice would be to NOT update the disc if you can help it (GM may force it on you, but I have yet to ever hear from GM about my discs - I always have to contact them). The differences between 3.0 and 4.0 will be negligible. Why burn up your "free" update (a bonus for the 2006 and 2007 owners!) when you don't have to?
Received v4 yesterday. If you need a specific address checked, let me know. Other questions welcome too. Direct email will be answered fastest. Will post information pertinent to the group.

So, does there appear to be any significant differences that are obvious?
Anyone wanting a backup copy of v4, please let me know. I don't mind making a backup for you, no charge. You never know about scratching them since you might have to swap discs. Thanks.
I would like a copy if u can make one. I will be happy too pay you.
tnx
This has nothing to do with the fact that I love my corvette. I have the version 4 and my widfe's car has a portable TOM TOM. That unit puts my navigation unit to shame. The clearity.....lane guidance feature....ease of operation...and her car has a audio jack, so the commands play through the radio.....last update = $39.00. When I buy my next corvette, (hopefully) I will opt for NO navigation and just buy a Tom Tom. But remember.......everythingfgelse in my vette is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I went home last night, I went to the box that the navigation discs came in to see what the GM part# was. Everyone was talking about version 4.0. When I reviewed my disc, it stated version 5.0 GM part number 259768064. So I would assume that this is the latest version. Correct?
Do you realize that this thread you resurrected is over 2 years old?????? The offer to make free copies may not apply. And yes, Version 4.0 was 2 years ago, so I hope yours is newer.
