Ferrari recommends Q-state, and that's good enough for me! I got it for a buck a bottle and put it in my Jeep. So now my Jeep is as good as any Ferrari...but will stick with Penzoil Platinum for the Vette. Doesn't F recommend like 20-40 for the 430? That's too heavy for my tastes. I'll stick with 10-30. Used it in my SS and now the Vette. Quaker State used to be a really good oil, then got some really bad press back when I was a kid. Like engines went tango uniform. Guess they've improved, and for a dollar a quart for pure synthetic, how can you beat it for your driver? Cheapest other brand was the Penz at $2 a quart--still a good deal

In the last test I read royal purple was the best for wear followed by valvoline dura blend, mobil one was 5th or 6th If I remember correctly....
take it as you will but in the wifes car I use royal purple....only because the vette hasn't been built yet...lol tpw 8-13

In the 90s, Mobil filed suit against Castrol for falsely advertising Syntec oil as synthetic, when in fact it contained a Group III, highly hydroprocessed mineral (Dino) oil, instead of a chemically synthesized (group IV or V) basestock. Due to the amount that the mineral oil had been chemically changed, the judge decided in Castrol's favor.
I have noticed that if you have a track use in mind (road race track) it is the HTHS number that becomes more important. Here for the same operating viscosity in centiStokes, diester base stocks have better HTHS numbers than PAO base stocks--mostly due to the density of the oil.

Hey, the man IS a certifiable legend. And let's face it: he is one of a kind. Not very many could've pulled off what he's done with cars (and sold them), especially the "extension" 427 Cobras (I think they're called "continuation"), not to mention the long running lawsuit against one of the (formerly) largest automakers regarding the word "cobra". And then to partner up with them again.
That's one ole' guy who's STILL got a lotta venom in that cobra oil.
