Default Oh Hail

Friday evening my 07 LMB got hit by a hail storm. No damage. Other

cars in the parking lot got a couple dings. One co-worker who was

driving home got his car beat up pretty bad. It was a real sinking

feeling as I work in a control tower and all I could do was look

out the window and watch. I've looked for damage in the light, dark

at all angles, top, bottom, in the garage, in the driveway and can't

see any dings at all. Is this a testament to the paint job or just

luck?

I don't know how much luck has to do with it but IMO both paint and panel composition saved the day. I'm glad you didn't sustain any damage.

Glad your car is OK. I once brought a new car home (non corvette) and watched it get pounded with hail that afternoon. $2,700.00 damage.

This is what I thought. I was looking out the window thinking

WTF, the car only has 1300 miles, I drove it to work because it was

supposed to be a nice day and then "s**t flew. It wasn't quite

golf ball sized but it was close. My lucky day I guess

I was driving home from work and like your weather forecast, it was supposed to be a sunny day. About 10 minutes from home, the hail started like it was being poured out of buckets. All the other cars that I saw had some sort of damage, some with cracked windshields. I couldn't find a mark anywhere on mine.

Hail will do more damage to windows than body panels in a Vette. Especially that big flat hatch window in the Coupe. Sounds like you got lucky on this storm...

About ten years ago, my C4 was in the parking lot at work. Hail did a number on all the other cars. Not a mark on the Vette.

This is really good news because I live where hail can get really big. Over the 25 years I've lived here I've been pretty lucky. Mostly because I park in the garage when at home.

I had an '83 Rx-7 that got $700 of hail damage. Most was on the removable sunroof. I took it out and filled the dents and repainted it myself. That was a fun project and the reason I bought a big air compressor that still comes in handy today.
