I drive a 1999 Camaro Z28 which is my DD, and I figured a Vette could be too...Sounds like I was right!
The 2007's are looking fairly discounted, so it's tempting to think about having it as a daily driver.
Another question: Do you guys plan to pay these off? or do you have a 1-2 year and then off with it type mentality? I'd like to own one for a year or two, but I wouldn't be so into the "keep it till it's paid off" type thing, I can't keep it more than 2-3 years max (family...need something reasonable)
Not a daily driver as for me it takes some of the thrill out of driving it. We use it for special ocassions and trips.
That's like saying having sex is for special ocassions, else everyday takes the thrill out of it!... 2 years with the Vette now, and the thrill is still there everyday for me... In fact not only do I look forward to what otherwise would be a "hellish" California commute in a mundane "me too" kinda box (bmw, boxster, mercedes, etc) with 4 wheels, but I'm damn lucky becuase the Vette enables me to have a (almost as good as sex) vacation twice a day! You don't know what you're missing!

Mine was paid off the day I bought it. It is only the second new car I've bought since 1987. I tend to keep a car I like until it is ready for the scrapyard. I just recently got rid of my '86 F150 with 350,000 miles on it. I still use my '78 F350, which only has 147,000 miles on it (just getting broke in good). I might buy something else in the meanwhile, but I don't mind owning several cars at once. I currently have 7, including a 1966 98 Olds that I've owned since new, and my current favorite weekend toy, a 1998 Dodge RAM 4x4. The C6 is my commuter car. It gets the best MPG of anything in my fleet, and is a comfortable trip car to boot.
Have Monty red/cashmere A6/F-55/Lpe supercharged 06 that Imho is the ultimate daily driver with 14000 miles & counting that I drive every day & love it.
I bought mine to drive not look at.
My C5 was driven 150 K in 3 years exactly with no problems other than 1 tune, tires (4 sets) and a set of brakes.
I drive my C6 (Z51) with mods 2-3 K monthly.
Over time, if you are a weekend driver there will be mechanical problems like dried out seals and gaskets, cylinder wall corrosion and failing to keep up with service bulletins etc.
Many vette mechanics I have talked with say the worst cars to work on are the ones that are that not driven regularly.
If you are a collector just pack it up for long term storage.
A friend of mine bought a new C5 and a crate motor at the same time.
he is at 250K and still waiting on a reason to change engines.
My 2 cents.

'06 MN6 coupe is my daily driver. Bought it "pre-owned" with 5,000 miles end of April; it's now got 18,000 miles and is gonna need some new tires soon
I love this car and I'm always trying to find reasons to take it out of the garage. It's awesome to see so many other Vette owners driving their's on a daily basis, and most with lots of miles... Very encouraging.
My new will be 08 my daily driver.
However, I do have a 2nd car for driving in bad weather, or when driving into downtown Chicago.
If I just washed it - and it's raining out - I usually take the 2nd car.
