I'm new to the corvette community, I've owned my C6 for a few months now, love the car immensely. The quesiton I have, why is it that the general public tend to hate or envy someone driving a corvette. I'm sure there's some psychological reason/s behind it.......but I just don't understand it. Sure I make in excess of six figures, have a networth of perhaps 7 figures, but I've worked hard for what I've achieved..........why all haters......please feel free to counsel me............
I haven't ran into this. Most people like to ask me questions about the C6 but no one has been rude. Well maybe a few young ones with the little buzz box cars. Several have said that I must have alot of money. I just tell them I did before buying the Vette!!!
the general public doesn't hate...it's just a few jerks. just like there are some jerk vette owners out there that hate the general public. just drive and enjoy.
btw...i've yet to encounter a hater. i get tons of compliments, questions, and thumbs-up from people.
I'm a soldier, Mustang-low buck hotrod guy who loves car to death. I build everything I drive. The reason people like me hate people like you is because you feel driven to tell us, in your every action, behavior and statement that you are worth 7 figures. You buy these cars not because you love her history, not because you love american muscle, but because its a status symbol and it signifys wealth. You probably also have a hummer and something made in Germany. Your watch costs more than my first car. Your attitude sucks and everyday people want to step on your pompous neck.
I am making rash broad sweeping statements here, some of which may or may not apply to you. The mes and yous were not meant to attack you personally, but you get the idea.
On a personal note, I feel sorry for the guys that flaunt these cars and their money. They are missing out on the pure love of motorsports. You can't understand what it means to dump everything you have into a materialistic piece of composite just to be able to wake up and hear that cam popping off in the morning. I don't hate those folks at all. Wouldn't trade my life for theirs ever.
Perhaps those haters just got you pegged, rightly or wrongly, for one of dem guys with money and no car love.
Hey he asked. Again, I live on the bottom of the ladder. Lots of you guys live on the top. I hear what people think down here. Me, I don't care either way. The original poster sounds like he worked his way up and probably is not one of the car posers. But, that perception is very common for guys with Vettes. The other one has to do with a lack of anatomy lol.

Hi, I have seen both types of people who are pleasant and others who are jealous. I just have fun with my Vette, and don't let the jerks bother me. The roads in my area are crowded, and when you have a Vette, it is easy to maneuver in traffic. I notice some people don't want me to get in front of them and try to block me, sorry doesn't happen, to quick for them. ,then I CELABR8. Ray

Wow. YOU are the one lecturing on attitude? Incredible. Man, I'm worth seven figures +, as are many on this board, and I own two Chevys and a Seiko watch, a plastic one at that. Am I flaunting when I drive my C6? Son, you need to rethink things a bit.

First off I'm not your son. Secondly I was generalizing on the why haters hate Corvette owners. If I didn't communicate that well then I'm sorry. I could care less either way. Just trying to give you 7 figure dudes some perspective.

ROUSHMAN
I'm guessing it is because you have attitude coming out of your pores. Any particular reason you wanted to share with us you salary and net worth?
I never get hate or envy, but I suspect I'm a little more humble than you are.
If you're feelin' hate from others I suspect it has little to do with the fact that you own a Corvette. BTW, you're the only person I can recall who says their C6 is the best car they've ever owned (per your profile) yet their avatar is a picture of a Mustang.
From time to time, I see this come up in the forum.
I have never seen this in my own experience. There are either people that say "cool car man" or just indifference and think "whatever", it is just a car.
And on the "I am worth seven figures" thing:
That's what the rest of the world thinks when people say that kind of stuff about themselves.
