Default Who pays for the loaner car for warranty work?

If I take my car to a dealer for warranty work, even though I did not purchase my car through them, should I expect a loaner for the day? Is that provided through the dealer or does GM pick up the tab?

My dealer has no loaner cars of his own. There is an Enterprise car rental on the premises. I have had three different dealers tell me that GM will only pay for the rental if there is a safety problem or of the car will be in for an extended period of time.

I have been offered courtesy transportation, shuttle service to work or home.

If the dealer has his own loaner cars or pays for the rental, he is doing it as a good will gesture to you.

At least that has been my experience.

I'm a "part time" driver, for Enterprise. I'm in no way involved in the $$ end of the business, but I believe that GM pays, up to a certain cost per day. -- This is one for Dave, at Kerbeck.

I bought my C6 from a small town dealer some distance from where I live.

I have my car's warranty service done by a big city dealership. They ALWAYS furnish me a rental car from Enterprise if the service is going to take longer than an hour or two. I've been furnished Cadillacs, new Chevy Avalanches, and other nice cars or trucks. All paid for under warranty.

I think you're SOL. A loaner is usually a courtesy car. If you didn't buy from the dealer how could you expect him to give you a loaner?
When I had the extended warranty on my F250, one of the provisions of the warranty was that Ford would pay for the rental for warranty work.
Unless it's specifically stipulated in the warranty, you're gonna be paying for any rental fees.

Is that just for a Corvette, or for any GM car?
It's good to know.

I believe you only get a rental if your car will be in for "more" than one day.

What about Courtesy Transportation?
Courtesy Transportation is also included for 5 years/100,000 miles (whichever comes first) on all 2007 passenger cars and light-duty trucks. Whenever warranty repairs are required, several transportation options and/or reimbursement of certain transportation expenses are available for your convenience at participating dealer/retailers.

By offering the Chevy 100,000 mile/5-year fully transferable Powertrain Limited Warranty, Roadside Assistance Program and Courtesy Transportation Program (whichever comes first; see dealer for details) on every 2008 car, SUV and light-duty truck, you’ll receive the best coverage in America. The chart below compares warranty coverage between the largest automotive companies in the world and demonstrates how Chevrolet comes out on top.

Correct, if it is there more than 24 hours you get a car, I had one last year for a month with my roof.

In most, if not all cases, Ford pays also. (You guys are going to start thinking that, I'm a Ford Guy - No Way).

"At participating dealers" is the key here. Our dealership gives no charge loaner cars if the service is to take longer than one to two hours. Doesn't matter if it's an Aveo or a Vette. Some metro dealers opt for shuttle service. And you are entitled whether you bouight the car at that dealer or not.

That's correct, unless you have a GMPP. A dealer may choose to give you a loaner for less than a days work (mine always has), but they don't have to unless you have the extended warranty.

I've paid for 1 day service... Dealer down the street from Enterprise. They send a lot of their customers there. Maybe they get a kick back? Remember, don't buy the extra insurance! Your current insurance should cover the car...

I have asked, and recieved, a loaner Vette of my dealer's used car lot! Best dealer in the Midwest. Have the best relationship with them, both parties respect each other in the way peers should.....
