Regular gas?

Fuel
Use of the recommended fuel is an important part of the
proper maintenance of your vehicle.
Gasoline Octane
Use premium unleaded gasoline with a posted octane of
91 or higher for best performance. You may also use
middle grade or regular unleaded gasoline rated at 87
octane or higher, but your vehicle’s acceleration may be
slightly reduced. If the octane is less than 87, you may
get a heavy knocking noise when you drive. If this occurs,
use a gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher as soon as
possible. Otherwise, you might damage your engine.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Stopped subscribing years ago. My C6 gets such great mileage (considering it's performance), I'm better off driving it than my Jeep Grand Cherokee hemi. Even pumping premium into the Corvette.
Any new car will run on regular, but you will not realize the performance if a higher grade is recommended. And if it starts to ping, then get back up there.
As many other posts have indicated, I have a $50k+ car. Twenty to forty cents per gallon more for premium is not an issue.
Yet even with 91 octane I still get pinging = detonation. Not sure how that could be since 91's recommended and I use it exclusively, but I guess from my experience, crap gas regular's out of the question since my knock retarded computer can't even handle 91...or whatever BS name gas stations call it these days.

Gasoline Octane
If your vehicle has the 6.0L V8 engine (VIN
Code U), use premium unleaded gasoline with a
posted octane rating of 91 or higher. You may also
use regular unleaded gasoline rated at 87 octane
or higher, but your vehicle’s acceleration may
be slightly reduced, and you may notice a slight
audible knocking noise, commonly referred to
as spark knock. If the octane is less than 87, you
may notice a heavy knocking noise when you
drive. If this occurs, use a gasoline rated at
87 octane or higher as soon as possible.
Otherwise, you might damage your engine. If you
are using gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher
and you hear heavy knocking, your engine needs
service.
If your vehicle has the 7.0L V8 engine (VIN
Code E), use premium unleaded gasoline with a
posted octane rating of 91 or higher. For best
performance, use premium unleaded gasoline with
a posted octane rating of 93.

Unless your shooting for better ET times at the strip, you really won't notice a performance difference driving around the city. The car will adjust for the fuel. However, you need to listen for pinging.
I always run premium in the Vette, but on one occasion, due to habit, I pressed the 87 octane button and filled the Vette with regular. Didn't notice any thing different.
