Disappointment... :-(

My 98 Corvette has also been virtually flawless. I've owned it for over three years now and drive it every day, and have added 56k to it (bought it with 32k now, it now has 88k) and it's only needed two repairs.
So don't be discouraged. That one seems to be a bad one, so get rid of it and move on with another one!
I bought the car from a dealer with 4000 miles on it august of last year...it was a "certified pre-owned". The water damage came within the first few weeks of owning it. they wouldn't even replace the carpets, and like i said, it happened twice. the dealer lied and said that the roof had been fixed. I asked him 3x before i signed the papers. you can see how many times after that that i have had the roof fixed; finally i got a new roof. I should have thrown the red flag there, but in my euphoria of owning my first vette, and trying to keep an optomistic mind "hey it was the first year, i may have to work out a few tweaks...but it will be alright"
Then came the tranny issues...the first gear blocked out at many red lights, and the crappy up-shifts...at that point i did contact someone at gm about a buy back. they told me that they contacted the dealer about a potential solution...they supposedly "adjusted my pressure plate" whatever the hell that means, and changed my clutch fluid...but they weren't going to buy my car back just because of a transmission problem.
now with the electrical problems...which of course i believe is related to the fact that the car was flooded twice...they have performed the tsb on it once, but obviously that didn't work. they also said that they wouldnt get me a new battery. the car still has several months of warranty left, so i think they are going to temporarily fix every situation until it goes out of warranty.
does anyone know how i can get these windows to roll up? Otherwise i have to get my dad to take it to a dealership in the morning while it is raining and i have to borrow one of his cars today to drive 90 miles home tonight, then i have to drive all the way back up here sometime this week to get the car back...

Take the car to the dealership with a list of every single problem you have with the car. Tell them you will NOT accept the car back until every SINGLE item on the list has been repaired to your satisfaction.
Get them to give you a courtesy car while it is being repaired.
Good luck, don't give up!
An extended warranty is your best defense right now... do whatever it takes and get warranty extended.. did I mention getting the warranty extended??? Sounds like car was in an accident and left vulnerable to the elements or has minor flood damage, and not just first model year issues. I would trace car back to original owners and see if you can uncover anything. If dealer knowingly sold you a lemon then drop the hammer!
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Below is my list of issues on my 06 and 97
1. Recall for C5 seatbelt
2. Recall for C5 fuel tank
3. Recall for C5 column lock
Exactly 0 issues on the C6.
I'd call that pretty good quality.
I have had more than that on my BMW and so has my wife on her Lexus.
Im talking about the history that CANNOT be denied of GM's lack of overall quality. I realize that this forum is mostly biased, but GM is in the shape that it is in now sales wise due to a history of horrendous quality.
Really sorry to hear about all your problems, what a bummer. Between your inept dealer and your warranty running out soon, seem's your stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I'm not real familiar with the GMPP (extended warranty), but if it's transferrable, you may think about purchasing a short term policy and sell the car. The new owner will at least have a paid warranty and it add's an extra incentive for the buyer.. Just a thought, Best of Luck

Immediately email Ken Fichtner, and get a GMPP extended warranty on the car NOW !!!!
Sorry about all of your issues
.Electrical issues are an inherent part of owning any Vette. My C5 was an electrical nightmare too... 2005 was reportably a bad year for C6. Your '05 has so many issues, Damn, electrical only one...
Since you asked, If I was you, I would cut my losses and loose that particular '05, anyway possible... Just get rid of it, and don't look back. Set yourself up with a later model C6 in time for Spring
They are the ones that are leading to the denails, or I should say refusal to make it happen, I doubt its getting to GM.
But GM uses arbitration for buy back, so I do not beleive you actually went that route as you dont just contact them and they tell you no.
I'm guessing you're a younger gent who may have been led awry by process failures. No doubt the car has issues, but most were fixable and it was the process followed that is leaving you were you are today.
You need to go elsewhere for service, period.
FWIW, GM is the best of the american cars for quality. They are the best about resolving issues and have the fairest buy back program. That just comes with being the biggest. If you know your rights and go thru the proper channels it works.
I bought my first GM 25 years ago and have had more cars that I can count since then. I have had 4 vehicle buy backs in that time. 2 GMs, 1 Ford, and 1 Infinity. Crap happens, they are production pieces and it doesnt matter who makes the car. Its hard when you are in middle of dealing with it, but dont let it consume you. Its just a car. As with your others, you sold them and moved on. Maybe the way to go here. At the end of the day, every car at some point in its life will have a problem. Whether its 10 minutes from the time you drive it off the lot to 10 years. Its 98% the dealer you work with that makes it no big deal or the worse experience you've ever had. Keep that in mind.
Best of luck!
- buy the car back; if no then:
- get me an extended warranty at no charge to me; if no then:
- fix the damn car i will trade it in, cut my loses and lose an a$$ of money...but will make damn sure that everyone i know will be aware of the fact that i will never buy a gm product again.
i know stuff happens, especially to cars...I am an engineer, this is no surprise to me; however if you can't accomodate me now, with the hell i've been through with this car and every other gm vehicle i've owned up until now, why in the world would i come back for more punishment. My therory is simple: the true test of character comes in the worst situations...so how gm reacts to this situation is really going to show me how they may respond to me in the future.
Does anyone know how i can roll these windows up to try to get this car home? i've done a search and can find nothing.
Are you parking the car in reverse? Sounds like this was a problem car from the time you bought it. There is a 3 year warranty which takes you into 2008. Take it back to your dealer and have it checked out. If they refuse contact GM customer service. Good Luck!!
One question. You said it had been flooded twice. Did that happen before all the problems began? Is it possible the flooding led to the other events?
Good luck on the repairs and your decision to stay or not stay with GM.
Sorry to hear about your problems with your 05. Luckly, I have had no mechanical, electrical, or Navigational problems with my 05. I would get rid of it and buy another one!
