The fleur-de-lis (or fleur-de-lys; plural: fleurs-de-lis) is a stylized design of an iris flower which is used both decoratively and symbolically. It may be purely ornamental or it may be "at one and the same time political, dynastic, artistic, emblematic and symbolic",[1] especially in heraldry. While it has appeared on countless European coats of arms and flags over the centuries, the fleur-de-lis is particularly associated with the French monarchy on a historical context, and nowadays with the Spanish monarchy as the only remaining monarchs of the Bourbon House (Anjou Bourbon). It is an enduring symbol of France, but, being regarded most notably as the emblem of the monarchy, was not adopted officially by any of the French republics. On the contrary as Spain is a constitutional monarchy, lis symbol is associated with the Spanish King Juan Carlos I (of French origin dinasty) and to the Kingdom of Spain. In North America, the fleur-de-lis is often associated with areas formerly settled by France, such as Quebec and Louisiana and with the Francophones in other Canadian provinces. It is also the emblem of the Swiss Municipality of Schlieren, Zürich.
It appears on military insignia and the logos of many different organizations, and during the 20th century it was adopted by various Scouting organizations worldwide for their badges. Architects and designers may use it alone or as a repeated motif in a wide range of contexts, from ironwork to bookbinding.
I have a question? Does anyone read the previous posts before they post? I notice in almost every thread where a question is asked the person will have 30 responses all saying the same thing...... I guess it gets your post count up, thats why im doing this, especailly since the question was answered multiple times. LOL

When your typing a reply, how do you know if someone has posted right before you? If your typing something long, and then someone replys with a 3 word response, they beat you to it. So do you go back and delete your post just because someone else answered it? no.

When I began writing my answer to the question, there were NO posts except the one by the original poster. With thousands of
Forum members, there is a high probability that several will be writing answers at the same time. By the time each is ready to post their answer it is likely that others have posted their answers, too. If everyone waits for someone else to port an answer, the question will never get answered.
Before we get into a debate over how why so many people post the same answer to one question....i think we can all agree its better than asking and getting NO response. lets just be thankful so many people are willing to help !
