Wifes Question

Forum members, there is a high probability that several will be writing answers at the same time. By the time each is ready to post their answer it is likely that others have posted their answers, too. If everyone waits for someone else to port an answer, the question will never get answered.

That man was a Frenchman (of course) named Louis Chevrolet.
Will Durant was having trouble raising money to save his failing company. The financial powerhouse J. P. Morgan was trying to buy the company at a bargain basement price, but Durant knew he had a potentially successful company and refused to give it away or allow it to fail.
Amidst those chaotic and problem-filled days, Durant designed the bow tie logo.
As anyone who has built his own business knows, employees are the most deadly impediment to a fledgling organization.
Here is where my history gets imperfect:
Durant designed the Chevrolet bow tie and included the Fleur de Lis as a peace offering to Louis Chevrolet. Durant included the French symbol to appease Louis Chevrolet.

IIRC the original design in in 1952 ( for the 1953 Corvette )was to have the US flag on the right side as well. However, it was quickly discovered that the US flag can not be part of any emblem and sold from profit. And remains so to date.
Therefore the fleur de lis was added to honors Louis Chevrolet.

How is it that so many products including lapel pins & T-shirts are "legally" sold with an image of the US flag?
Do we over-look this breakdown of the "law" also?

Just made it to 2000 with this post!!!!
