Default Jacking Pucks

What would be the best jacking pucks to buy? Are the machined aluminum ones any good? Thanks for the info!!

I bought mine from Elite Engineering, forum vendor and they work quite well. Others on here have gotten them from BMW and some have made there own from hockey pucks. Do a search on the subject, you will find a wealth of information.

I bought mine from Ecklers. They are urethane and about a quarter to a half inch thicker than most. Price is on the high side through.

Hockey pucks from a used sporting goods store near you! Work great and cost about .99 each.

I have these too and I like them. I had some aluminum ones but I don't like the thought of aluminum functioning in this matter.

For one, it can be slippery and then having metal against metal in this fashion didn't sit well with me either.

I've had good results using the rectangular BMW jacking pucks. I wouldn't want to use aluminum.

Me too. I think the pucks cost 3.99 for four and the 1.0 " or so O.D. eyebolts cost something like .50 apiece.

Default Hockey pucks work great

I've used the hockey pucks for the last couple of years with no problems at all. They work great and don't do any damage to your frame like I've heard and seen the aluminum pucks can do. Another forum member posted photos of the dents the aluminum pucks put in his frame.

Save yourself some time and hassle and get them off ebay. They will be delivered to your door ready to go.

Search on ebay for Jacking Pucks & Bag to get a good deal. The carry bag is a plus for storing pucks in your car.

Soon as I saw the frame slot damage that looked like it came from using the aluminum pucks I got some urethane ones.

Speaking of my aluminum ones, they're from Mid America, and one puck has officially been used one time so they're still pretty new. I was going to throw them out but if anyone wants them let me know and I'll ship them to you free of charge.

Some people swear by the aluminum ones but I'm hesitant after seeing some pics of damage.

EDIT: Pucks have been shipped out today, Merry Christmas.

Well depending on your point of view. They fit better yes because they have an expansion pin which keeps them tight. The round ones wiggle somewhat because I bought some and one of them fell out on it's own. I tried another round one and it was just as loose so I said forget and got some urethane ones that I leave in the trunk.

The rectangular also provide more clearance because they are not as flush. The round ones barely extend just below the rocker panel so if you're using a jack that has a lip I'd be concerned that you'd damage the rocker. The rectangular ones won't have this problem. I personally do not like either of them and I have tried both.

Do a search on the really good write-up ProfMoriarty wrote on both of these jacking pads.
