Since winter has set in, I am finding cats sleeping on my Vert top. I guess it's warm on soft. Obviously it's not good for it. Has anyone had this problem and come up with a solution? I do not want to use a cover because it's a hassle.
I have only one cat, and it is an outdoor cat, and the vette is an indoor car! But I'm in Fl. I have horses, but fortunately they have not yet tried to sleep on top of my car. I have seen a horse sit on a car once, and it was not pretty, thank god it wasn't one of mine. The other alternative for the car top though is to put something less comfortable on the vert top. Like a sheet of cold thin rubber, as on the underside of a floor mat etc, making it a less desireable sleeping spot. That way you would not have to cover the whole car all the time. Use a black mat so the fibers won't show up on your roof.
Here is the solution to your dilema.Animals don't like the odor of moth *****. Get some and place them on the top of your car and walla,The cats won't go near your car.I learned this trick from an Animal Control Officer. I put them in an old T shirt.I had the same problem and it worked. If you have problems with dogs or cats going under your house, toss a bag there also. They don't want any part of that smell.Cheap and effective. A friend of mine was having the same problem and was going to try this Scat Mat that he saw at Pet Smart. Ended up trading in for a new C6 coupe and never tried the Scat Mat.
This is the longest I've seen one of the these threads go and still remain mostly civil! I'm sure it won't last! Sorry, I have absolutely nothing constructive to add to this post.
I lived in a small university town where students commonly turned their cats loose at the end of semesters creating a large feral cat problem.
One year, in a span of two weeks, I caught 14 cats, which the pound promptly disposed of. Every couple of years or so I would have to borrow a trap from a friend or from the pound and spend a couple of weeks doing diligent work, but the problem would be resolved.
I recently moved to the country, the bobcats and coyotes take care of the feral cat problem before it starts now, but for those of you still with cat problems. Get a trap, call the pound.

Best of luck!!
Its going to stay civil because this is a great group of people (no smiley for but kisser?). I really appreciate all the input. There are two suggestions that I am going to try tonight. I'll give Y'all some feedback on what worked.
If they don't work I'll just trade it in for a new Z06 since they have hard tops. My wife should go for that excuse right?
We used to get cats and raccoons in our garbage cans all the time and they would shred the stuff and toss it all over. My neighbor recommended taking some ammonia and dumping it in the can. Never had another problem.
Perhaps if you poured some ammonia on paper towels or rags and put 1 by each car tire? You don't need a whole bunch as their sense of smell is much keener then a humans.
