Corvettes Against Breast Cancer Ride: The Tour For A Cure
The PaceSetters Corvette Club (www.pscc1.org) and our 501 (c)(3) non-profit foundation, the Corvettes Serving America (CSA) Foundation (www.csafoundation.org) are at it again !!!
That's right, the groups that brought you Corvettes Against Breast Cancer I - V (CABC V Review ; CABC III Review ) and Corvettes Against Breast Cancer Ride: A Voyage to Vegas (Voyage to Vegas - Trip Summary ), are at it again; this time with something just as exciting as before !!!
For 2008, we’re participating in a literal "pledge drive" covering an estimated 3000 round trip miles, passing through a combined 15 Southern, Northern, and Mid-Western states. This year, we're calling the event
The Corvettes Against Breast Cancer Ride: The Tour For A Cure (the Tour) will take place over 9 days in May 2008, (May 23 – May 31, 2008) covering an estimated 3000 round trip miles, passing through a combined 15 Southern, Northern, and Mid-Western states. Through pledges, donations, parades, and other civic events, the Tour participants will raise awareness and funds for the continued fight for a cure for Breast Cancer. Tour participants will take part in activities in, or be visible in, the following states:
• Georgia
• Tennessee
• Kentucky
• Ohio
• Pennsylvania
• New York
• Maine
• Massachusetts
• New Hampshire
• Connecticut
• New Jersey
• Maryland
• Virginia
• North Carolina
• South Carolina
Why Do We Do This
According to the American Cancer Society, each year an estimated 178,480 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed among women and about 2,030 cases of breast cancer are expected to occur among men (accounting for about 1% of all breast cancers). Approximately 40,460 women and 450 men are expected to die from breast cancer this year.
The Corvettes Against Breast Cancer Ride: The Tour For A Cure is an idea presented by several of the CSA Foundation (www.csafoundation.org) members as an additional means to promote breast cancer awareness and provide a means to raise funds to support this cause.
Thanks to you, over the past few years, the CSA Foundation has been able to provide more than $35,000 in support to the following national and local Breast Cancer organizations:
• American Cancer Society
• Susan G. Komen Foundation
• The Wellness Community
• Many Local Survivor Organizations

Safety Car
What a great cause, wish the Vette Owners in Hawaii could participate, maybe something the Corvette Club of Hawaii can look into.
Best of luck to those participating may you all be blessed with nice weather, great roads and problem free cars.

My friends, husband and I having participated in last October's event in Atlanta, I know what a great bunch of folks they are. I'd love to participate if you come through North Carolina. Looking forward to a more detailed schedule.

We'll be happy to assist you any way we can. We helped Corvette Quarterly set up their annual Ride & Drive about that same time last year:

How cool is that !!! That Corvette Quarterly article is part of the reason we decided to go as far as Maine on this trip.
Hmmm...wonder if I should contact CQ about the Tour For A Cure. Could make for some good reading

Hey Marv... Many of my co-workers heard about our trip to Vegas in 2005. They thought we were crazy but nonetheless impressed with our efforts. Even though they can't ride to Maine with us this year, they have already pledged to support us 100% by donating funds to the cause!!
My vacation is set and I'm "red-to-go"!!

You should definitely contact CQ about Tour for a Cure. I was talking with Jerry Burton at the NCRS meet in FL earlier this month and he is looking for stories about club charitable activities!
Unfortunately, only going as far as Portland won't give you the scenery we enjoyed doing that R&D.

Thanks for the tip. I think I will contact CQ about the Tour. As far as the scenery goes, I'm sure we'll be able to see some of the beauty that Maine has to offer on our way to Portland. If not, we have 2800 miles to travel, we'll catch some beautiful scenery somewhere
