just wondering if anyone know's what the EXPECTED life span in miles, of the LS2 engine, of course with normal maintenance upkeep, scheduled services etc, with normal driving (no racing)and no engine mods. If not what is the longest engine life in miles that you know of in a C5 with normal upkeep and service, no mods etc

That sir, is the open ended question of all time..........there are many C5's out there with 150 to 200K on them. How did they get there? Routine maintenance, a water pump or an oil pump here or there.
With these engines being run on nothing but Mobil 1, they all should last that long, but again, how they get there or if they get there is anyone's guess...........

At this point and for all practical purposes, I think the LS2 owners/users are writing the book on the subject with each passing day and each passing mile. Perhaps GM has published engine life expectations based on their testing....I don't know. From my experiences and from what I've read, I believe the LS2 will prove to be extremely durable and long-lived...at least I'll keep a good thought.

And when it does finally wear out, you just take it apart, rebuild it and then your good to go for another 200K. Don't understand the big deal about mileage, rebuilding engines and doing what you need to do to keep the car you love.

I have a 12 year old Jeep with a 5.2L and 148K miles. I'd bet the LS2 will far out last that motor.

Providing the LS2 is never heated up, and because the RPM's are so low (reducing wear), I'd say your doors will fall off before you wear the engine out. Kinda like a slant six...with power!

Well, my '99 Coupe with the stock LS1 is now at 304K miles and still going. I would think the LS2 should do just as well.

Considering the future regulatory situation, that's fantastic news! Thanks.

Congratulations on taking care of your Corvette. Just shows what following a maintenance schedule can do.

And heating it up bad enough to hurt it should be relatively difficult to do given that it has the alternate cylinder firing smart limp home mode that can run (at least for a while) with no coolant at all...
