I get the message "No valid disk inserted" or something like that when I try to play a cd on my Bose single disk navigation oe head unit. Coincidentally [?] I just let my xm radio subscription lapse. Any thoughts on whether the two are related? The car is under warranty so I plan on taking it in to be repaired when I have time, but if there's any easy fix, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks
Many times I've found either the CD has dirt or something on it or it got scratched. Have you tried several CD's and all the same thing? If so then it's dealer time....
I'd try using a lens-cleaning disc first. That may not remedy your problem but they're good to use periodically and who knows...it just might work. Good luck!
Same thing has happened to me a few times with one CD and after several attempts to play, it will. Could be the disc info that the player does not like?
Sorry, I should have provided this information. I have tried numerous disks, none of which were burned. They were all purchased. The cd player in my Vette previously played them. They work fine in my other car. Thanks for the input!

I'm familiar with disk cleaning kits but I didn't even know they had lens cleaning disks. Think they'd sell them at Best Buy or such? Thanks
it's not your discs, it's the head unit. I have the same problem and its completely random. It doesn't matter what CD i put in; burned, store bought, etc. Take the car to the dealership, my guess is they will have to replace the headunit. I know it's a bummer, but my '06 does the exact same thing. Friggen obnoxious.
Since it looks like you have tried several "non-burned" cd's , I would say it is an internal problem with the cd player. This means that the player will either need to be sent out for repair or replaced. If it is still under warranty, I believe the dealer goes the replacement route, but i am no sure. You might want to call or stop by you dealer to find out since it will have to be ordered first if they go the replacement route.
Is it an MP-3 you made or a store bought CD? If its store bought ,try another and if it dont work the Cd player is at fault. What year vette. If an 05 with Nav Mp-3's will not play
without a dealer flash. Even than' the CD /MP3 is very particular on how it plays a homemade CD.

Probably. Radio Shack and even WalMart has them. I've used them but they can sometimes do as much damage as help. They have brush fibers glued to the disk. The problem is they can put enough force on the head to misalign it. I've had good experience just blowing canned air into the area (no disk inserted). If canned air doesn't work and the problem is consistent, and under warranty, then, IMHO, the dealer is the best option.
