2007 Z06 motor blew with 6000 miles..Help

As long as you keep all of the documentation and they do a good job replacing the engine you will be fine. It is always frustrating when a major failure takes place. My issue would be that from past experience when I had a car with a replacement engine that was being traded in the dealer said it was only worth wholesale because mileage was unknown. Given that this is a GM warrenty repair I don't think you will have that issue but you may want to confirm that. If you do please post the answer as I am curious. Good Luck.

Long block means he gets an entire new engine, heads and all. Seems the Z motor has been having valvetrain problems as this is not the first to report this. The other guy was unlucky as the dealership said he was abusing his car and cancelled his warranty.
Be happy you got the problem taken care of with a new engine, had it not been for warranty you would be looking at around $15K for the dropped valve.

Sometimes hi-po motors break valve springs... it wasn't that uncommon with some '02-'03 C5 Z06s. The internet guess was a bad batch of springs, but it was never a large enough problem to warrant a TSB from GM.
There seem to be 2 "common" failures on the LS7:
1. Rocker arm trunion failure resulting in needle bearings in the motor
*Normally not a bad problem, just change the oil and remove them and install new rocker
2. Broken valve spring
*Damage depends on if the valve drops or not
For issue 1 you can send your oem rockers to Harland Sharp and they will replace the needle bearings with sealed trunions... this is common place for the aftermarket guys who are running larger cams etc. I'm not sure if companies like Yella Terra or Harland Sharp are making full rollerized rockers for the LS7 yet because of the offset design.
I've got Yella Terra ultralights on my cam'd LS6

Why would you think GM is obligated to do anything more than they did? No one likes to have their car breakdown and watch it being towed-away but that's the way it goes...all cars have mechanical issues at some point. Consider yourself fortunate it was covered under warranty and GM honored their responsibility in an exemplary manner.

I know what you're going through and I felt the same way when my 02 Z06 popped the motor at 700 miles. I contacted an area rep and he gave me the option of a new engine with an extended warranty or a buyback. I did what most people would have done in my shoes and chose the buyback. I would at least ask for an extended warranty.
Good luck.
