Default NPP worth it???

OK,
Considering buying an 08 vert. Is the NPP worth the $1195 on the sticker? Or should I save my money and get something else?

I know, sound is very subjective, and everyone has their likes and dislikes. So, just to put this into perspective, I have Borla Stingers on my C5 and love them. I love the deep muscular sound. There's a tiny bit of drone, but that doesn't bother me at all. GHL's would be my second choice. I don't like the sound of Corsa's (not meaning to offend anyone), but they are too hollow and "exotic" sounding for me.

If I go ahead and get a C6, I'm keeping it relatively stock (with exception of simple CAI/exhaust mods) for the warranty period. Besides, I'll still have the C5 to wad out to wazoo (Can you say ECS Novi )

Just looking for some to comment on why they got it (or didn't) and why. Also, anyone get it and swap it out. Any resale value on the NPP's, since most cars I like seem to already have that option.

Thanks.

NPP is worth it!

I retrofitted the Bi-mode Z06 system to my 2005 C6 before it was even announced that NPP would be an option on the 08.

I wanted it that bad!

I think for sound and cool factor it is better for resale. Just my opinion though.

You should definitely stop by one of your local dealers and listen to an 08 with the NPP option, or contact your local Vette club and see if any members have an 08 with the NPP option. I'm sure they would be more than happy to get together and give you a listen. You should really try and hear one before you decide.

Having said that, I have had my 08 with the NPP and Ed's Mild2Wild switch for over six months now and I am very happy with the setup. I really enjoy the sound of the NPP, as it is plenty loud for me, and a deep throaty sound. Good luck on your decision.

I was going to go with the NPP..i went to the dealership...listened to the NPP...they had the valves opened up...sounded nicer than the non NPP Vettes however i then listened to a Corsa Sport on the Vette next to the NPP exhaust.....immediately I decided the NPP wasnt worth the money at all...i got the dealership to install the Corsa Sport for less than the NPP would have cost me and I love it....so i say FORGET the NPP and go with the Corsa Sport...you wont regret it.

I would say that NPP with an exhaust switch (such as mild2wild) is the perfect combination.

I just got my car a week ago and while everyone loves it, the ability to push that little switch and change the sound of the car has everyone saying "No #@$%^@ Way!!".

The simple fact that you can have the *option* to have a super quiet exhaust or a louder "growl" with the same exhaust system is very cool.

I was sure I wanted it before I ordered, and now that I have it I am even more convinced. Go for it, you will love it! (just get the switch too)

I have an '08 w/o NPP. It drones with the valves open, so I'm going w/ a Corsa extreme. Loud when you hit the loud pedal, quiet and no drone at cruise.

"Worth it". What is "worth it"? No one on this forum but you can make that determination. Since they give you an exhaust for free with the cost of the car, finacially no, the NPP is not "worth it". It is just another exhaust system. There are others out there more expansive and others out their less expensive.

Now, if you don't like the sound of the stock exhaust, or if you love the sound of the NPP then it must be worth it to you to change from the stock. If you prefer the tips that come with the NPP then it may be worth it to you.

The NPP exhaust is a variable operating exhaust that under normal driving conditions with throttle percentage at 30% or less and RPM at 3,500 or less remains closed and quiet. While operating the vehicle at throttle percentage of 31% - 79% and at or above 3,500 it opens to a virtually unrbaffled exhaust flow. If you are really agressively driving the car and are at 80% throttle and above the NPP valve will open at 2,800 RPM's. So using a combination of driver intent via throttle percentage and RPM feedback from the car it can be as quiet or as aggressive as you want it to be. Does that sound "worth it" to you?

NPP is worth it! Best of both worlds, closed under 3000 rpm for cruising and opens up above 3000 rpm with a nice sound. The NPP's 2.5 inch exhaust improves flow by 80% when the valve is open which results in 6 hp and 4 lbs. torque. Aftermarket valves (mild2wild) will allow you to control valve opening at your preference. Best of all, the exhaust is covered under the warrantee. Go listen to one and decide.

Wth Talon90.

As far as sound goes, my input on the NPP exhaust.... I just recieved my 08 coupe and came from an 04 Zo6. I have the NPP and removed the fuse and WOW!!! I could NOT be happier. Sounds very very good to me. I was a little worried I would not like the exhaust note, but I was very surprised after having a Borla on a previous Ram Air Trans Am ( which I loved). Turns a lot of heads. My $.02

I love the NPP with M2W. There are times when I want quiet and then there are the other times. Best of both for me. Listen to one and decide.

If you love the Borla Stingers(me too) you may very well find the NPP to be underwhelming. I strongly suggest you find a dealer with it & give it a listen.

I think it's worth it...

Quiet at cruise so no drone, yet aggressive enough when you get on it.

Listen to one before you buy, though.
