I thought that the LS3 rated using the same process that was used on the LS7, which was the first to be rated under the new system. If the LS2 was rated using the new system, my understanding was the the difference between the two would be less than the assumed advertised 36 HP.
Yes. That was the arguement du joir before people started taking their LS3's to the dyno (including reputable tuners like LG and MTI). Until dyno numbers showed the LS3 has at least 36 more at the wheels - more like 40+.
I actually hate threads like this, because I think all C5's and C6's are great cars. Hell, I even like mustangs and camaros. I do not like it when we split into factions. We need to unite against those that want to destroy our hobby. But like Jim say, it's not the owners of the newer cars that seem to start these pissing matches.
I'm actually getting tired of this ****.
I'll repeat my own quote where I replied to another one of these dumbass threads:
Funny thing. In 2005, there were A LOT of C5 owners trolling onto the C6 board talking smack about the LS1 vs. the LS2 because there were hundreds, if not thousands, of LS1 track times to sift through and come up with many 12.5 - 12.7 runs. There were only a handful of LS2 times, mostly by peple who weren't drag racers, and most of the LS2 runs were in the high 12's , with several 13 second runs. So, to the LS1 folks, the LS1 was just as fast as the LS2 (they were FOS).
Funny thing, after 4 model years, - you don't see many people trolling over and trying to convince us that the LS1 is just as fast as the LS2.
I don't think there is any doubt that the LS3 is stronger than the LS2, and the LS3 responds to mods better. However, there has been no proven data on how much TM GM is placing on the LS3 vs the LS2. The computer nanny may be playing a larger part in stock vs. stock comparisons than we are aware of. Both engines and cars in their respective years are pretty impressive. What we should be worried about is what the future may hold. Think I'm crazy? Who would have believed the differences between a 1967 Vette and a 1977 Vette in 1967? Horsepower ruled, this was only the beginnig of what the factories could offer. Sound a little too familar? As far as trading an LS2 equipped Vette for one with an LS3, just grow up. The man with the fastest car is the man with the most money. Though its been said many times many ways, Speed costs. How fast do you want to go?

completely!! The same happens when anyone mentions or asks anything about the Base, Z51 or F55 suspension options.
They are all GREAT cars and should be treated/respected for what they are, not dimisnished! That's !
BTW . . . I'm with you on the Camaro and Mustang. I still have my 84 Z28 waiting for its new motor an I like the way the new Mustang can be customized/setup when done right . . . although I would never buy one!!

First, it has not been over a year. My LS3 was built the first day of production, and I've had it 8 months.
Second, it's like sales. If you make enough sales calls, the odds say you'll sell something. The more calls you make, the more you sell. The LS2 simply has more sales calls. I'm a good example - how long did it take until LS1LT1 beat my 1/4 mile time for a LS2?
The LS3 1/4 mile club simply doesn't have many members - hell, there aren't even very many bad 1/4 mile times on the list for LS3s yet.
Excellent points. It probably hasn't been long enough. I really think there are not very many people with stock LS3's that hit the faster tracks (like Englishtown or Atco or Houston in the dead of winter). A lot of people are modding these LS3's almost immediately because they make so darn much power with just headers and an inlet!
