I’ll light a fire. I recently looked at the 1/4 Mile Performance Challenge lists of fastest 1/4 times in the Tech Section. In the Showroom Stock C6 category for fastest 1/4 mile times...in the entire list of approximately 45 cars were only three (3) 2008 LS3 equipped C6’s. What’s up with that?
After all this time since the release of the LS3 and after all the talk of how much faster the LS3 is than the LS2...where are the 2008 LS3’s? I realize various factors can affect 1/4 times but frankly, I would have thought the Showroom Stock category would be fairly well populated with LS3’s by now...I guess not. At this point, the stock LS3 has not demonstrated its dominance over the LS2.
Surely there must be some other guys with 2008 C6’s that are willing to take the garage queen to the drag strip. What happened with the LS3...where’s the beef?
I’ll go on record as saying I would expect the LS3 to be slightly faster than the LS2. I think the showroom stock 1/4 mile times show just how close these engines are in performance (and how very few 2008 C6 owners are up to running their car at the drag strip). I hope we see more stock 2008 C6 owners run their cars at the drag strip and post their time slips. I hear the LS3 is faster than the LS2...show me!

I had the impression the performance numbers were essentially the same (Z51 being the example). If I'm wrong, someone plese tell me...
I think the problem is the bone stock part. I have a new LS3, 2 weeks old, and I've got a Corsa Xtreme exhaust and about to get either a Callaway or Lingenfelter CAI. WHO CAN BUY A CAR LIKE THIS AND LEAVE IT BONE STOCK!!!!
I've got an LS2 and I'm rootin' for the LS3. I'd hate to think we went through all the pre-release angst and then hoopla over nuttin'! Plus, I do want every minor and major release to be demonstrably better. I agree with Wayne O . . . come on all you LS3's, put a whoopin' on the LS2!

Red Cell.
GM doesn't think so. Here are the numbers GM quoted when the 05s came out.
Zero to 60 mph times quoted by GM.
6-spd manual w Z51 4.1 sec
6-spd manual w/o Z51 4.3 sec
4-spd auto tranny w Z51 4.5 sec
4-spd auto tranny w/o Z51 4.6 sec
GM is now saying the LS3 with auto tranny with Z51 will do 0-60 in 4.3 seconds.
Jeeeeez, I thought we just had some of this. I'm not posting anything because I can't but the time slips are in my console. Come on with just tune and intake and how many ls2's can beat 12.14. Wayne your killing me.
