driving at 15mph, car was warmed up, going around a 90 degree corner, car loses power, engine dies and then it backfires. See my sig for my mods.
Sorry to hear the bad news Jeff. Sounds like I better not drop under 15mph and stay out of the curves. I shouldn't make jokes but you have to look at the lighter side sometimes. I'm sure you'll be as satisfied with your replacement as with the old....just a little lighter in the pocket. Good luck!

How you doing. Yes, slow and straight does it. I've reconciled myself to the expense, now all I want is my car back. No disrespect to Pontiac owners, the the Grand Prix IS NOT a Corvette.
Doesn't really matter how it happened now, the guy's engine is D E A D.
Not to be a smart a**, but it would be nice to know the culprit. Possibly save someone else down the road to a similar situation. i.e. a different manufacture of timing chain, or preventative maintenance (inspection or replacement) of vital valve train components at some mileage specific interval. Please post up if something is confirmed during teardown.

Guy lying on the pavement five stories down, was it the jump that killed him, the fall that killed him, or the coming to a sudden stop which killed him?
Dead is dead.
You mod your car, you take your chances. And if you really want a reason, well when you finally get down to it, the reason why this engine died a "premature" death is because it was modded /blown.
It didn't take a rocket scientist to tell you that this engine was not going to die of "old age", or "natural causes".. were it stock, it would probably be alive today.
Look at his mods and that will tell you right there what killed it.
In his signature he says: Mods: way too many
That was the problem right there. You mod your car to that extent and you can't expect to get 100,000 miles out of it.

Correct you are.. but I guess I would want to know if that person was pushed off the fifth floor or did he jump...possibly keep someone else from "jumping". But unfortunely a rocket scientist I am not.
I think OP has already said where he got the work done somewhere in this thread and that he's going back to them because they're the best around. It may take a little digging but it's there.

'06 Quicksilver Z06 is correct, to a certain point. My C6 is heavily modded and I took most precautions to extend the life, with one exception--forged bottom. But, lacking that is not what killed the engine. It was one of 2 things: either the timing chain broke and sheared off the roller on the lifter or it was the reverse of this scenario.
Either way, the OEM LS2 is dead as a doornail. I got about 35,000 miles out of the blown engine, not too bad. And, as the old saying goes, if you play, you pay. I did and I did.
Anyway, the forged 402 is on its way from Texas Speed & Performance to Horsepower Sales in Pompano. So, new engine, new life, let's hope for a long life for this engine
