HaHa great answers...don't worry, I'm not planning on going that fast anytime soon, just a great question to debate about. Everybody has a different answer and opinion. But the bottom line is you might not get caught, or you might get in major s**t.
20 year state LEO here. If I caught someone doing a 160 mph that would buy a world of trouble! It will also trigger an alert with every local PD within 30 miles in Connecticut....
It's an extremely stupid, dangerous and loser play! I hope none of my corvette bros here would even think of something that stupid....
....and rightly so. 160 on a public roadway is just stupid...endangering yourself and possibly innocent people as well. Take it to a track...there are lots of venues available to run your car at speed.

There was a local Corvette owner here that was caught doing 200kmph (160mph) earlier this week. His car was impounded and he will be in for a large fine under Ontario's new street racing laws. I'd hate to see his insurance bill when he comes up for renewal with a street racing violation on his record.

It's called an APB. Every cop in the county will be gunnin' for you.
It's true, they'll come after you. But if somebody breaks into your car and leaves fingerprints all over the crime scene, they'll leave you hanging and refuse to show up to take prints and record the incident.
Does this even require a discussion I think we all realize that driving 160MPH on a highway is maliciously reckless and is likelyto end in the death should an collision occur, throw away the key I say or better take your time providing medical assistance to the driver and save the tax payers money.

I got away with that one. There were other incidents that I didn't get away with that resulted in a 3 1/2 year license suspension, big fines, and lessons learned the hard way.
Maybe it's just me, but every jack butt I see riding on a crotch rocket is always going way too fast and/or weaving in and out of traffic and I have yet to see a cop go after them!
I've seen plenty of crouch rockets pulled over on the side of the road though.
while crossing the desert out in california running @120 i noticed lights waaaaaaaaaay behind me and made the smart choice and stopped. the 2 chp officers were not real happy. fortunately i shared a fraternity with one of the officers and they did cut me a tiny bit of slack. they wrote me for 95 which was apparantly the max without a manditory ride in the car. but it wasnt that big of a favor. it is not just a ticket it is a serious crime that requires a lawyer and a court appearance! $5000(and this was after ALOT of negotiating! they all wanted 10K) to the lawyer and lots of calls later believe me my 08 vette will never see triple digits!

If I meet you and your running "160+", First thing I would radio ahead and advise color, make, direction of travel, speed and any other info I could give. I would then turn around and hit the over heads in attempt to get you to stop. As far as chasing you after approximately "1 -1/2 mile" I would discontinue pursuit.
