Sure! Because I assume the cars will be well maintained while in Hertz's
stable and fixed, if necessary, under warranty. And, as with the purchase of any used vehicle, I would have the option of getting an independent inspection done before purchasing.
Having said all that, I remember when Hertz bought Shelby Mustangs (black w/gold racing stripes) to rent out. It was "65 0r '66 and I think Hertz had about 150 of the cars. That venture turned into a financial disaster for Hertz. The cars were often raced at the local drag strip, or road raced. Too often the Shelby Mustangs came back on a tow truck.
Hertz quickly got out of that venture! I wonder how long the Corvette experiment will last?
Hertz did the same thing recently with a new fleet of Mustang GT350H's. Apparently they had problems in the 60's with people stealing the engines and so on the new models they have a bunch of parts safety wired. I also heard you had to go through hell before they would rent one to you and I also heard that they are all lojacked so they know exactly where you go with the car.
To answer the OP's question..No, I would not buy the ZHZ Corvette once Hertz is ready to sell them. If they sold me one right off the truck I'd take it and lock it up for the next 20 years.
Would you buy a used ZHZ once Hertz decides it's time to sell used ZHZ?
First of all, it will be hard for the common guy to buy a ZHZ from Hertz. If history plays a part, they will be snagged up by collectors and dealers. Selling them at a premium.
My answer would be IN A NEW YORK SECOND. (If I could)
