That is kind of lame. Seems like hold is implied with the stomp. They should change it to:

Stomp
Hold
Intrust
Think
Steer

That is one thing that I wonder/worry about as I come to even a relatively slow stop, at least for the C6, is whether someone will be directly behind me.

I know the vast majority of vehicles behind me do not have anywhere near the braking capacity that the C6 does.

That's why it pisses me off when someone follows too closely behind me - especially 4500lb SUVs.

I don't think I would agree with that. If you stomp on your brakes it will make the car nosedive, removing weight from the rear tires. Steering under those conditions will almost certainly lead to the back end sliding, with potentially disastrous consequences. A few things worth thining about:

- Deer are responsible for more deaths than ANY other animal in the United states.
- According to my research you have a chance of about 1 in 30,000 of dying if you hit a deer with your car.
-Deer are responsible for more deaths than any other animal in the USA because people try to avoid them and lose control of their vehicles. This is a fact.

I've hit animals before and usually you have zero time to avoid them. When I do have time to avoid them I stand on the brakes and do not steer untill the vehicle is moving at a low enough rate of speed.

A few years back, a good sized white tail hit my 3/4 ton Suburban. He bolted almost diagonally out of the early morning shadows from my left accross the front of my Suburban. I was doing about 55 mph, jammed the brakes and hit him almost instantly flush on the front. The impact caused over $4,000.00 damage. I couldn't find him along the side of the road and it was still pretty dark. Sadly, I don't think he made it too far.

Hitting a deer in the C6...the deer might just come right through the windshield.

Yes, striking animals and the like is dangerous and is not funny and very possibly will cause serious property damage to one's self and their vehicle. Thank goodness you and yours and doing fine.

Congratulations on being as alert as you were. The technology certainly does not hurt either.

Enjoy your weekend.

All wrong. I've done this and seen it done by many others in a 550i at 75 MPH and around a corner several times at BMW's track in Spartanburg, in a student exercise designed precisely to prove that what you just said is flat incorrect. ABS saves your hiney and keeps anything from sliding loose. Of course you nosedive - you're standing on the brakes. But you can still steer very well and with no penalty/risk.

None of this cancels any laws of physics. But within the bounds of what speed and friction allow, ABS will stop you without skidding and allow steering control. It's really amazing how fast you stop and how easy it is to maneuver in the stop.

Stomp. Stay. Steer.

Many years ago (1977?), we hit a deer at 75 in a BMW 2002 in the farmland west of State College, PA. It was a flash of brown. No time to even touch the brake pedal. The big brown thing hit the front of the car and flew just over windshield (and my head) and over the car. Steam instantly blotted out the forward view. Four more deer could be seen running in the same path as the one we hit. We walked back to the dead deer - what was left and pulled it off the road by the legs. That was a weird experience. I don't think there was a length of bone longer than one inch. The BMW was totaled. Pre-cell phone days, we flagged down a trucker with a CB to radio for a tow, then spent the next 6 hours hanging out with cows that came to see the action. No real cows - livestock.

We don't have that problem in south Florida, but I am going to drive to Albany New York and Old Rhinebeck New York and I have heard of it happening up there.

Yeah, the Corvette does seem to have a tail hook landing on a carrier for brakes. I haven't had to use them in full force for an emergency yet but I did on a deserted road just to know my car's capabilities. All I can say is WOW!!
