..I'm as big a proponent as anyone when it comes to tinting windows, but in 20 years of owning cars (and tinting the windows on every one including a black Beretta GT that had 20% then 5% on top on the side windows) I've never tinted the windshield. That's just pushing your luck a little too far when it comes to LEO's.

I did my whole front windshield 50 % and NOONE can tell that from inside the car. I havent been pulled over for it and my heads up display is even brighter and easier to see. I highly recommend it and it looks fantastic. If I see any leo during the day, I just crack my windows a bit to let some light in and after they are gone, they go back up. I have 35 on doors, legal btw and if I get stopped, I would bet money that the leo wouldnt dream my windshield was tinted because it is perfect. How many Vettes do they see with window tint anyway ? I bet not enough to have a solid idea about what is too dark, I have had people say they thought the car was so dark since the back window is so curved and the side windows are small and curved a bit. I like the privacy of it since our cars sit so low, everyone can see in. I have no visibility issues with my car and have my radar detector attached to it and my extra gps attached to it and it all works perfectly. It could stop someone from checking out your insides too if they had an idea about breaking into it and at night, parked, noone can tell if anyone is in there at all and it may keep undesirables from getting too close to it because they cant see if someone is sitting in it.

I can only add that 20% all around and 50% on the windshield was the answer in Las Vegas - no nightime visibility problems. I don't know about any other locales.

I dont think you will be disappointed. I had my front done for about 100 dollars and make sure you dont put any suction mounts on it for a few days. There are risks with everything but it seems the folks on here that have had it done havent had any issues and I think it looks very good and flows with the car. I have been given a warning ticket for passing in right lane and cop didnt look twice at my windshield. Good luck with it, what color is your car ?

Never ceases to amaze me how people dont read the thread starters info. HE WANTS PEOPLE WITH EXPERIENCE WITH A TINTED WINDSHIELD AND OR HUD. Maybe I am not understanding but where does he say, " Is this legal or would you do this or what are your thoughts even if you dont or wouldnt have it done."

It is truly amazing that people post their opinions about it even though they dont have the mod done. He specifically asks NOT to start a debate about it and all the and are a waste of everyones time. Speculating if you can see out of the car when you havent had it done is a completely worthless post. A nono nod is a waste of a post. It seems to me that EVERYONE that HAS had it done thinks it is great, has had no problems, can see out of the windshield day or night and all recommend it. IF YOU DONT HAVE IT DONE, KEEP YOUR OPINIONS TO YOURSELF AND RESPECT THE ORIGINAL POSTERS REQUEST. It is like this on all kinds of threads, everybody wants to post their opinions when it CLEARLY requests not to do so if you have no experience with the subject.

If someone posts a thread and says, what is everyones opinion on blank...... feel free to throw up your or or or whatever but why give out opinions or thoughts on something you havent done, have no interest in doing and have no personal experience about the subject ?

You are absolutely 100% correct! The OP specifically asked for folks with experience with tinted windshields...not for opinions about legal mumbo jumbo. Sorry...I get a little PREACHY sometime! BTW...I also run a front license plate. I just don't see the thrill of giving LEOs ANY OTHER reasons to pull me over...DWB is challenging enough!
And FWIW...I think these are 3 of the baddest Vettes I've seen in a long time.

See thread http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=2035495. Tint will improve the HUD, but is not legal.

I know, I know accidents will not happen to me, yada, yada, and laws are made to be broken, yada, yada, but it is one chance I would not be willing to take just for some tint on a windshield. I find it disgusting enough to have black boxes being installed, and there is nothing I can do about that, but to tint a windshield to me is just possibly asking for trouble.

Just think if it does happen, you might be able to afford a bicycle, put a windshield on it and tint it, you will still have a cool look and broke.

Like a few other have replied, "it's your car, go for it, etc. they are right, it is your car and the law is the law. I would not do it

If something does happen, maybe they will help with your expenses

Correct, but he also asked "do it?" on the title. I say don't do it, I think it looks weird and the fact that's illegal. I always drive with sunglasses for when it's really sunny. JMO
