It is truly amazing that people post their opinions about it even though they dont have the mod done. Speculating if you can see out of the car when you havent had it done is a completely worthless post. A nono nod is a waste of a post. It seems to me that EVERYONE that HAS had it done thinks it is great, has had no problems, can see out of the windshield day or night and all recommend it. It is like this on all kinds of threads, everybody wants to post their opinions when it CLEARLY requests not to do so if you have no experience with the subject.

If someone posts a thread and says, what is everyones opinion on blank...... feel free to throw up your or or or whatever but why give out opinions or thoughts on something you havent done, have no interest in doing and have no personal experience about the subject ?
Okay I own two HUD systems, so I have stated my opinion.

Now I will state another tint the windows black if one prefers, just keep it off the highways where I or others drive. Last I recall the highways did not belong to just a select few, so the many comments about legality given.

Shoot...I wish I would have tinted the front. I have 5% on the sides and rear, which provides privacy when driving with the top down and windows up.

If you're willing to pay the tickets and be forced to rip it off when the court tells you to do so, be my guest. Given the reduced night visibility, this seems like a silly thing to do (aside from the illegality).

I suggest you get off your soapbox.

If someone starts a thread asking a question, then it seems to me that all responses, regardless of whether it appears to directly answer the exact question posed, are valid. Frankly, this guy needs to be told, quite clearly, that what he wants to do will lead to trouble.

And, to all those who HAVE tinted their front windshield and think the LEO won't notice it because it's so "perfect," . If they can't see into the car easily, they'll notice.

Just as I thought, more opinions. I just dont understand I guess. I would think that speeding would upset people. We cant discuss street racing on this site. Superchargers would be frowned upon if you were in a wreck because you altered the vehicle. The nitrous, heads, loud exhausts are illegal in a lot of places. Some people register their cars just out of town so as to avoid cat tests on their cars so they can run whatever they want. Noone will ever agree on this site. I would say the age difference is about 75 percent of it. There are people here from say 20's to 100. I imagine in this particular thread, the younger people on here would in general prefer the look and the older ones on here generally would not prefer the look and would be the ones who (having never seen out of a fully fronted Corvette windshield) will tell us that it limits visibilityand is dangerous.

I think the age gap between drivers/owners on this site is part of the issue. I am not on a soapbox but I honestly grow bored of trying to get to an insightful comment without having to hear joe blows opinion on something he knows nothing about. Can it and go post about something you KNOW about, not about how it might be this, could be that, should be this, dont drive it around me etc... All of that is not useful.

Yup, I'm 21. I see where he's coming from as well. It is annoying when people who have never been in a car with a tinted windshield tell me that I can't see at night.

Maybe, just maybe it is not about age but more about maturity and common sense.

"It's your car so just do what you want" pretty much sums it up. It's all about me. It's a silly law and I'll just ignore it because after all, it is just about me and what I want.

I have stopped several for window tint and have observed MANY with the complete windshield tinted and I have written EVERY one of them for "reckless driving". When you tint the side windows dark, you can roll those down when it gets dark and assist you in seeing safely when needed (which has to be quite a bit I bet) but you can not roll down your windshield to see clearly. Do not think that we will not notice or that we can not enforce it if you are from out of state, I have a chart that tells me every states window tint laws %'s and if they are outside what is allowed in their home state, I can and do charge them under our state law. The fine here is $170.00 for a window tint violation and I charged one guy 9 times before arresting him on the 10th time and he corrected the problem after that.

When you meet a car, you should easily be able to tell if you could recognize a person in the car and not just a silhouette. Just look at the cars that you are meeting and observe how dark it is when you are meeting ones with DARK tint and then see how clearly you can see in the cars that have legal or no tint and you will see how easy it is for us to pick people out that have their windows tinted to dark.

Well, I guess I wont be going to NC. I guess there arent any real crimes happening there if you seek out tickets to people whos window tint is too dark. Good for North Carolina.Illegal window tint is dangerous to the officer is what I would expect to hear next right ? If a car has 100 percent legal tint, it is difficult to see in at night anyway, even with a huge mag light aimed at the window. I guess the fact that someone could easily be in the back seat with a sawed off shotgun with the back windows spray painted black isnt a safety concern ? I dont suppose someone with bad intentions could fire a weapon through the back glass ? I dont see any laws being generated because of it but it sure sounds like it could be dangerous. It is completely legal in my state to have the back windows or rear seat windows as dark as one wants. The back windows usually come super dark on suv's but that doesnt seem to bother anyone. It is a money generator for the state.

IF you catch me in NC and I get a 170 dollar ticket, I will pay it and laugh about it. I wont have to worry about cops sweating me to death here because of it and I wont be taking mine off. My goodness, seriously isnt there any more real "crimes" to handle than this in North Carolina ? If not you are a lucky bunch there and kudos for keeping everything crime free. It must feel good to lie down at night or whenever your shift end knowing that there is one less car on the road with illegal window tint.

I have spoke to and know several cops around here. I have never heard of anyone getting a ticket for window tint, UNLESS they have done something else to get them pulled over AND they are being difficult to deal with. Seems the local cops here, State police too, stay too busy with homicides, break ins, rapes, shootings, stabbings, car accidents, road racing, drunk drivers, drug dealers, drug users, domestic disturbances, stolen cars, expired tags, no insurance and just about ANYTHING else before they ride around waiting to pull someone over because they cant see someones profile through the window. I am sure you guys get your share of jaywalkers too, it is the law, no crossing without a walk signal or a pedestrian crossing area, just doing my job mam' keeping you safe and heres your $100.oo ticket.

Tin Star, as far as maturity and common sense go, It is funny how you can speculate on someones maturity or common sense level from WINDOW TINT. Laughable at best. You dont know me or have any idea about my education or intelligence level. Window tint on windshield= immature and no common sense.

I'm not gonna get into the debate - - -do what you chose and accept the consequences.

We've got a tinted windshield on our MB E320 - - it came on the car when we bought it off MB lease return and we didn't realize it at the time. A bit darker at night and maybe a bit cooler during the day - - but no serious downside--except . . .

Evidently, there was a wave or bubble or some kind of imperfection, and my better half innocently picked at it with her fingernail - - presto! Instant film removal of a patch about the size of your thumbnail right smack in the middle of the driver's field of vision.

So - - at this point, I wish we didn't have it and keep following gravel trucks with the hopes they'll throw a rock and crack the thing so we can replace it - - -waiting 3 years now.

Well, lets just say that I might not give you the option of just paying the fine, I MIGHT just put you in handcuffs and cart your rear to the county jail since it is an arrestable offense, I somehow do not think you would be laughing at that time. I bet you are one of the ones that think it is YOUR right to wear your seatbelt or not and that you should not be forced to wear it?? if that is your logic then why can they tell you how fast to drive and so on??

I have made PLENTY or drug arrests and drunk driver arrests and gotten wanted people and lots of other arrests just off a flimsy window tint ticket as you so elegantly put it. It is just that this is one of those laws that seems to step on your toes about what YOU want to be able to do and feel you should not be bothered by it since you drive a Corvette. Get off your higher than mighty horse and realize that the laws are written the way they are for a reason and not just to make money for the state.

I am not a BIG seatbelt ticket write either, each Officer/Trooper has things that they look for and that is what makes all the different laws enforced. Here in NC the Patrol does not deal with barking dog calls and other complaints like State Police agencies, our main focus is on the TRAFFIC laws and the safe movement of traffic on our highways but if we run across drug dealers and people breaking into houses and such, we do deal with it but for the MOST part we look for traffic violations from our motor vehicle law book (Chapter 20) and deal with them accodingly.

Well Said. People ask for feedback or opinions and then don't like the answer they get back.

In most states it will be illegal, in all states it will be more dangerous than a windshield not tinted.

Do what you want to do, but be prepared to pay the piper in the event of a wreck or a traffic stop.

Enough Said!

well tough guy, have you checked to see if your "euro" lenses are DOT approved? what if i rear-end you because I couldn't see running/brake lights. it could be a combination of front windshield tint and your lenses which result in 100% fail

seriously though, i like my tint 5%, but i haven't grown a pair to do anything with a front windshield yet, i suggest you rent "supertoopers" though because your nickname is close enough to be cool, yet you're some kind of super tint enforcer-er

Yes my Euro lights fall within NC law and if you rear end me then you would be charged with "Fail to reduce speed to avoid colliding with a vehicle" (NC GS: 20-141 M)

I have seen the movie and there are some funny parts in it but do not think that all Troopers are like the ones in the movie, sounds like I have stepped on some toes since I am a "super tint enforcer-er” Just abide by the laws of your state like tint, front tag or whatever is on the books or talk to your legislators to have them changed, do not complain about those that are enforcing the ones that you personally do not agree with.

I recently got a ticket for my front windshield. First of all the cop pulled me over for no reason probably because it was the end of the month or something. I know i wasn't going to get a ticket but than he saw that the windshield was tinted and he said "now you really pissed me off." He goes writes me the ticket and asks me to step out of the vehicle. He gives me a lecture on how this is my second ticket for the tinted front windshield and you young people think you can do whatever you want. He finally says you never took it off the first time i guess you didnt learn your lesson the first time. I responded by saying that the ticket is a non moving violation and ill be very happy to pay for it and thats that. No points ticket. Got in my car and drove off.

after reading this post i remembered how awesome it looked on my old car and went ahead and did it on my vette 4 days ago. My opinion, do it!!! WHAT a difference in look, and temperature. My AC is on low and the car is always cool. i dont even put on my stunna shades any more() anyways its worth it, i recommend 50%(good quality paper). With that percentage a cop wont notice yet it blocks enough UV rays!
