hey all, not to start a huge debate about it being legal or not...but if i did want to tint my front windshield 50% would that mess around with the heads up display?? anyone have any experience??
I think you will be very disappointed if you do this. Driving at night your visibility will be seriously compromised to the point of it being highly dangerous. I rented a motorhome one time that had the front windshield tinted. I hardly noticed it during the day but at night I couldn't wait to get that thing home and parked before I ran into somebody.
It will probably look good in the day time but I would be concerned with the visability at night. I would not do it but I guess you can always remove it, if it is a problem.
I know several people who have thier windshields tinted and the light tinted are ok at night, I would not have noticed if he had not told me.
his heads up was fine. it kept the car cooler by 15 degrees in the sun.
good luck!!!!
I went darker than 50% on my windshield and don't even notice it at night. My passengers tell me they wouldn't have known had I not told them. I don't have HUD though so I can't help you there.
While it would look awesome, I'd think you're just asking for trouble. I'm pretty sure it's not legal in most states, but again...it's your ride...we can't tell you what to do. Good Luck!
You could have issues with your insurance company if you were ever to get in an accident. If they saw you had your windshield tinted, they might not cover you? I'm not sure if this is true, bit it is something a friend of mine told me and one of the reasons he won't get any illegal tint on any windows.
I had my windshield tinted 50%, and had all the other windows done in 20%. My interior was black, and to be honest, it looked really dark from the outside. But from the inside looking out, I loved it as it cut down on some glare and oncoming lights at night. I honestly felt like I could have gone darker and still been okay to see, but after I had it done, from the outskide, it appeared to match great and didn't need anything darker.

Sure we can...but he doesn't have to do what we tell him.
