For those of you with Heads Up Displays, what is the maximum G force reading you have seen on your HUD? I pulled .85G on a right hand turn and felt completely under control. Has anyone been able to pull 1 G or better?
On the street I've done 1.05 on a hard right turn. I keep forgetting to check during track days but I'm hitting the track, PIR in Portland, OR, next week so I get another chance to check.
I did .89 on a on ramp and could have done more but my wife started making funny noises in the passenger seat. I've seen folks here say they have been as high as 1.3...
You can easily pop the G meter over 1.00 by accelerating quickly through a sharp, short radius turn. I've hit it a few times without really having had to even go very fast. Just make sure you have some room to slide if you lose traction.
The bad thing about the HUD G meter is that it doesn't hold it's reading. You have to drive and watch the damn thing, just when you have your hands full. Few experienced race drivers watch their gauges in tight turns, that is reserved for the straights.
Fighter air craft have a G meter that is reset like a trip meter. You can then punch off the highest G from the flight.
I saw 1.00 on my C6 in a tight low speed turn. It felt like it could turn more. 1.0 g at 40 mph is not really very scary compared to 1.0 g at 150mph.
I might watch it at 40 but at higher speeds I'm not looking at the G meter.

While in track mode 1 or 2, you can press and hold the "page" button to recall the highest "G" reading achieved during the current ignition cycle.........turn the car off and you lose it..............so, you CAN recall your "G" reading, guys!!!

This does not work in the 2005 model. I think it went into effect in 2006 or 2007.

Well OK then.......I should have prefaced that with "in the 2008 owner's manual, it says that,"......I did not know that it might not apply to previous years.....should have thought about that........
You can also get the timer to display the time since you last started the engine (meaning how long you have driven this trip). If you bring up the timer and push and hold the reset button, it stops, then go to 0:00, then go to the current time the ignition has been on. This feature does work in the 2005.
The highest I've seen using the page button is .88 - It was on a left hand turn and the tires squealed just a bit. Road conditions and temperatures can play havoc with tire traction.
I had mine up to 1.03 several times on the track at VIR. The tires were squealing pretty good at that reading. When I tried to take it higher, I fell off the track

Not me but I know an experienced racer that seems to monitor various readings through the curves on a road course. I ridden with him (an E Ticket ride for sure) and I swear he can tell you his oil temp, speed, g's, etc. at any time.
1g at 150....imagine a Formula 1 car ripping 5g's at 150+.
With the right 'track' tires and a proper setup you can pull 1g - 1.1g's fairly easily on a road course. My friend's C6 is setup better than mine (and he's a vastly more experienced racer) and he pulls 1.2g's + consistently.
