Fuel supply cuts of at high RPM?
Yesterday I had an opportunity to "see what she could do" and so I went through the gears in my 05 6 speed like I stole the car.
The second round I noticed that at high rpm in 1st (I'm sorry I do not have the exact rpm) the engine pretty much shut down, as though the fuel supply was temporarily shut off.
Is this a built in "safety feature" to prevent knuckle heads (me) from over revving the motor

Fuel Cutoff Mode
The PCM cuts OFF fuel from the fuel injectors when the following conditions are met in order to protect the powertrain from damage and improve driveability:
The ignition is OFF. This prevents engine run-on.
The ignition is ON but there is no ignition reference signal. This prevents flooding or backfiring.
The engine speed is too high, above red line.
The vehicle speed is too high, above rated tire speed.
During an extended, high speed, closed throttle coast down--This reduces emissions and increases engine braking.
During extended deceleration, in order to prevent damage to the catalytic converters

I went to a Corvette show on Sunday at the Vettes Restaurant near St. Louis. (Put on by Route 66 Corvette Club) A couple of us were talking about the rev limiter when a guy in a Z06 decided to show off as he left the show. He spun the tires, put out a lot of smoke and then hit the limiter. Very impressive - NOT.
