Not a big fan of the badges personally, unless it came from the factory.
You can spot a Z51 pretty easy, just look for large drilled rotors and a splash of color on the calipers.

Well, mine is not easy to tell "what it is" But I have Z51 badges on it because I don't want to try to pass it off as a Z06. With the full widebody, wheels, MN6, painted top...The brakes are the only give-away. I might put on z06 brakes, but I don't need them. The z51 brakes & rotors stop the car just fine. I'm still on the "ropes" about the brakes, but I love my Z51 badges...
Corvette is the model no matter if its a coupe or a Z06...
Go to the site and there's no 2009 or ZR1 either... and a Z06 is a style... 3LT is a trim and Z51 is a package....
It all came from option codes, yes it is now considered a model, duhh... ten years from now Z51 might very well be a model too. Then everyone with a Z51 will have badges...
This has obviously struck a nerve with you for some reason.....my apologies.
But for a definitive answer see Talons post(#38)......a picture's worth a thousand words.

No apologies needed, I'm just stating the way I see it. I understand that a Z06 is looked at as a different model and a Z51 (or what ever option) is looked at as an option.
I'm just saying that the Z06 started as a option too, most people don't understand where these "codes" came from.
Whatever People...... They are not for everyone,Obviously! If ya want badges, get em, if not, Dont! Opinions are like a$$holes, everyones got em.......
I ordered a 09’ coupe with the Z51 Performance upgrade. My question is do the Vette’s that have this package come with a Z51 emblem on the front panels?
Uh, Oh.....As soon as I read the OP's innocent inquiry, I was reminded of those old WWII submarine movies. The Captain peers into the periscope and shouts, "Mark, Fire One!"....and then there's that horrible silence and anxious looks as we all wait to see if the "fish" hits its target! This thread looks like another direct hit.....no need to waste any more torpedos.

No, my intent was not to start a Flame thread. I'm going to be a first time owner and I'm now just getting into the Corvette world and trying to understand.
I had seen pictures of Vette's that had the badge Z51; which I thought was cool looking, but while I was at the dealer on Saturday ordering he showed me a Z51 and to my surprise it didn’t have the badge. At which point I asked him why and he said, “They don’t come with badges”. Now that I know it’s after market, I'll have to decide if it’s something I want to do to my car; deface it or tell everyone what option I have.

i love these badge threads Me thinks it wouldn't be so bad if there wern't so many variations of z51 badges out there. there's only one Z06 badge per generation... I think the Z51 badge should remain optional, but look like the badge in post #37. that looks like the closest match to the oem z06 style badge to me. sad tho it's more of a C5Z replica... there's c6 z51 badges that look like the c6 z06 style ones but i just can't find them!

Why would you want a badge that looks like another? Wouldn't you want to set yourself apart from the other Factory badge?

bahaha... i'm all about being unique, but it bugs me when i see Z51 badges that are in the font that belong on a camaro.... you know like the old z28 emblems. I wouldn't go as far as putting a hyundai elantra GT badge on my ford mustang GT
