Getting Windows Clean
Anyone have any tips for cleaning windows without streaks? I've tried off the shelf stuff that says no streaking, windex, water etc etc. nothing seems to work very well. Any tips appreciated.

I mix a solution of 1/4 white vinegar with 3/4 rain water. I then use coffee filters to dry the glass. Works pretty well.
I also had good results with Hope's Perfect Glass and coffee filters.

Also use newspaper instead of paper towels.

Here's my "trick" for those extremely soiled windows:
Baking Soda and Water with a sponge sold for removing bugs.
When finished, it takes lots of water to rinse it all off. But, I must admit, I've only needed to use this system a handful of times. It works well, abrasive enough to clean, but not to scratch. For all the other times, it's a auto glass cleaner product followed by microfibre towels. I tried the newspaper for years but it wasn't "perfect". Just forget the paper towels, they have too many strange products added to them (like oils).

Seems to be easier to get online. A lot of auto parts stores stock it also.

Wal-Mart and Target carry it also. If you order a case (12) directly from Stoner's, it's $35.70 with free shipping.

Make sure the glass is cool and not in sunlight, then regular Windex works fine. No need to buy any fancy stuff

Sprayaway and microfiber towels, both from Costco.

It’s a
very simple, effective, and practical product that will work well with any of the mentioned window cleaner(s) given to conditions as previously stated about a cool windshield out of the sunlight.
It will definitely leave your windshield streak-free, results are always satisfactory –
leaves no streaks, absolutely none!
Product:
Zwipes ® – found that the "Microfiber Interior Detail Mitt" is best for windshield application.
PS: It was recommended by our detail shop.

I buy it at Wally World (Wal-Mart). Less expensive
than the auto parts stores.

Exterior: Wash with same stuff used on body. Rinse, and dry with Microfiber towel.
Interior: Mircofiber towel moist with plain water, dry with dry mirofiber towel.
Make sure glass is cool to the touch. Hot glass is impossible to get really clean.
