Are there NOT any lawyers on this site that can fix this- without us buying them an island in the Carribean up front?
The only reason I even have XM is because it came with my car and the subscription is paid for the rest of the year. I think there programing is awful.
Honestly, I don't mind XM and fairly cheap too. Good enough for the car tunes right now, but never compared the two either. Maybe I'll check Sirius out later when more important performance mods are fulfilled.
I gave them my credit card w/ a 30k limit and signed up for automatic renewal. Big black check right in the checkbox on the form.
I want XM no matter what for the rest of my life / no matter the cost!

Hahaha Just kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They bill me and I pay via check. $77 thx to CF.
Press release by XM below. Maybe the service will improve?
Following the FCC's approval of the merger, XM subscribers will enjoy a full complement of programming like they do today at their current subscription of $12.95. XM will also offer subscribers XM service and a selection of SIRIUS programming for a total price of $16.99. Several other new programming packages will be offered, including two "family-friendly" options and packages featuring mostly music, or music, news and talk, etc. The programming line up will be announced after the deal closes.
As soon as XM or Sirius has your credit card number, renewel becomes automatic with zero warning to you. I refused to give my credit card number to XM during the trial activation and the lady on the phone was very ticked off. Too bad for her. I have Sirius in my truck and now in the Vette and renewel is automatic. I don't like that it works that way, but since I will renew anyway, it is not a big problem.
Don't give XM or Sirius a credit card number if you do not want automatic renewels!
I haven't had this experience, XM notified me 1 1/2 months in advance that my $77 annual subscription was about to expire and that there would be an automatic renewal at the full rate unless I notified them otherwise. I called and said that I would renew at the $77 rate I now had but would cancel if they didn't extend this rate. They did and I renewed. They have my cc on file.
I had XM for two weeks under my 3 month trial period. I really didn't care for it. I am a lifetime Sirius subscriber, and wouldn't listen to XM even if it was free.
I heard the same songs played over and over again in the first two weeks on XM. In my opinion, there aren't near enough rock stations for my liking on XM.
Adding some programming to current XM subscribers is a plus for XM owners. I hope they don't change Sirius any.

Bad service, marginally better than free-radio selection. . I liked the quality and the fewer commercials that XM had, but the content wasn't really anything worth paying for IMO. . Though I did get a chuckle when driving my vette home the day I bought it when I found a station which played movie audio and I heard ghost busters!

I highly recommend that people NOT do business with them until upper management gets the message that their service ranks among the worst in modern history.
If you think I'm ranting about isolated problems, do a search and see how many problems are reported just on this forum.
When my trial was up, I received the $77.00 offer and had them send an invoice to me. Never give your credit card!
I tried this the first time with no success.
My three month trial subscription ends next month. I got renewal information in the mail last week. Based on this thread (and a couple of others), I called today to renew. After talking to a computer for a while, I got a real person. She rattled off the same information about the rates. I told her I thought they had a $77 one year rate. She said it was a one time annual promotion and becasue I knew about it, she could give me the rate. She acted like it was something they were not doing any more. Anyway, she confirmed my mailing address and asked for credit card information. I asked if she could send me an invoice. She said that they could not send an invoice for the promotional rate, only the standard rate. I told her that I preferred to pay by check. I then said I did not want to pay by credit card and if she could not send me an invoice then I did not want to renew. So, that was the end of the call. Rather than argue or debate her, I figured I would just call at a later time and see if I had better luck.

Has anyone else had this experience?
I haven't, but I used the Canadian number that others have reported has more accomodating reps. I'll search for it and add it to this post when I find it.
If your cc company offers the temporary card numbers (BofA calls the service "ShopSafe") it's a great option. You provide the merchant a card number they can only use once and with a dollar limit you set. They cannot tell it from a regular credit card. Personally I use these for almost all Internet and telephone orders.
Located the Canadian number in another thread...866-553-5420. Good luck!

Thank you. I will call my credit card company and see if they do this. (BTW it is a GM Mastercard). I actually used all of my rebate points when I bought the Corvette in May. I may try the Canadian number tomorrow if the GM Card does not do this.
-Get a Discover card from Chase. discovercard.com (Other banks' Discover card probably do not have this capability.)
-Set up your online account.
-Download their 'One-time Use' software to your computer.
-For online, telephone, etc purchase, fire up the software and generate a one-time use credit card number. (The software is almost magic. Online, it will automatically 'fill in' all the info on a web site form where it asks for credit card info.)
-No one will ever use that credit card number again for any purchase.
-The purchase will appear on your monthly credit card statement.
-This has already saved me from who know what amount of credit card fraud. Bought a 'Cowboy Classics Movie' DVD for my father in law (at my mother in laws request) online, Discover called next morning telling me a **** site was trying to charge more aganist the onetime number. Googling the DVD site turned up numerous problems with the site doing the same to other people. A call to the DVD company - they didn't know how this could happen. They either have someone breaking into their site, they do it intentionally to occasional buyers, or they have an employee doing it occasionally. I did get the DVD, did have the correct charge for it processed, but the **** site, in England I think, did not get the $100 that other people seemed to have charged to their cards.
What information do they require to renew after the trial. Can I get a deal on a second car even if isn't registered to the same party as the first car? What discount can I expect on the second car from the $77/yr?
