Glad both of you are okay. You will probably be sore for a few days. I was also in a similar collision. The 90-degree impact of my Vette with a (red light runner) pickup resulted in the rear of the vehicles slapping together. The results were similar to having two different collisions. A bent frame does not dictate a total loss. The frame can be repaired. A big problem to be aware of is some insurers suppress the expense of repairs. They will violate state code, depending on the state, by putting caps on materials. They will simply not allow enough money to make necessary and correct repairs, putting pressure on repair companies to take shortcuts or resulting in you, the at loss party, making decisions on how to resolve the short-fall. In the wake of the other driver admitting she saw the red light, has her insurer assumed 100% liability for the loss? Who is the insurer?

Damn! Glad you're OK, but as another guy who's experienced the pain of a totalled Vette, it sucks to lose your baby.

But, as a lot of guys told me when I lost my ZR-1 - it's better to lose the Vette because fiberglass can be replaced, but flesh and blood can't!

WWC,

First and foremost, I am glad that you walked away virtually unscathed!
So sorry to see your beautiful car in such bad shape. I feel your pain because I had something similar happen years ago when I was almost hit head on by a driver who was distracted because she had dropped her cigarette. Two lane road trees on either side with a 15 foot drop off the crest of the road (Old Fentriss Airfield area for those in SE Virginia). Anyway, I know the stress that comes with trying to restore your car to the condition it was in pre-accident. Looking back I wished they would have totalled it rather than repairing it. In any case best of luck.

If you haven't already done so, make sure you say a little "thank you" prayer! It's pretty apparent that the good Lord has more plans for you.

Mike

PS I would think that GM might want to get a peek at that right, front rim.

Wow...I'm glad everyone's OK...sorry about the damage to your car.

I've never understood the 'I hope it's totaled' sentiment from a financial standpoint. In virtually all instances the insurance company is obligated for the car's actual cash value...its depreciated value...not to upgrade you into a brand new car.

However, assuming the other party was at-fault and cited, if you have any medical expenses and a good attorney, you might come out of this whole. I hope so.

Again, sorry about the accident and good luck. Keep us posted.

You're OK, but for a bump on the head? Thank goodness!~!!!!!! That's amazing.
I hope everyone else is ok, too.

I can't tell about the car, but it doesn't look good for repairing. Who knows?

Once again, I just need to repeat what's been said before: the car took the hit for you. Lotta people make fun of the "plastic" cars, but just take a look at how well it did. And yes, thank goodness for the airbag(s).

I know you were instrumental also in the Z06-splash guards write up (thanks!) and hope your new car has them, too.

Take care, and feel better soon.

Glad you are OK. It doesn't look totaled to me either. I hope you insurance adjuster disagrees with me, because they are never the same (at least in your mind) after an accident, no matter how good the repair job. Good luck.

I am so sorry for your accident. It happened to me 2 months ago and I am still uneasy at every green light I come to. I hope that everything turns out well for you.

Glad you made it out alive and with only minor injuries. I do hope they total it and you can get an 09 (WWC 2009!). Build it just the way it was. I have always thought you car was very sharp looking. And on the bright side (if there is one) you probably saved yourself some bad tennis wrist by not making it to the courts.

Walt - glad you are ok.

My wife was t-boned by a red-light runner but the chick insisted that my wife ran the red. Lack of witnesses meant that the accident went 50-50.

The girl who hit you may have done something stupid - but at least she did not lie about it after the fact.

Good luck with the repair/replacement.

I was told the insurance co will pay 85% of the value of the car to repair it!! thankfully they totaled mine, hated to lose the car but there was anothe out there for me. Be careful of the head injury, I broke my side window with my head and still have vertigo, it's like having a martini all day!! Glad you are okay!!

ouch, sorry to see that happen, it's up to the insurance company. the best thing for them to total the vehicle though, some people are just not capable of fixing these cars.
