I agree. I bought B&B bullets but couldn't stand the drone so switched to stingers and couldn't be happier. Stingers do have a little drone, but after having them on for a while, you won't even notice it I'd save for the stingers. Keep an eye on in the C6 parts section. You will find used/new stingers with decent prices every now and then(That's where I bought mine from )

I also have the stingers and still loving it. It really sounded really cool when I first installed it but then after couple of weeks or so it sounds like a little less louder now :-( but then I again it could be just my hearing getting blown two weeks prior

Goodluck!

Borla fan here too.

The biggest difference;

Borla is a full 304 stainless steel system. Flowmaster is not stainless and will rust out inside of a few years if you drive in all weather.

The car is a fair weather car and is garage kept so I'm not too worried about flowmasters rusting. I'm sure I won't have them on all that long. I just hate the sound (or lack there of) of the stock system. So much power and so little noise. Trust me, as soon as i can afford a new set of Borlas, i will grab them.

Flowmasters

I use Melrose headers and catted x pipesback to American Thunder Flowmasters. Great sound, no drone at speed no problems.

My experience of the two systems is different... the *volume* of the systems is comparable, but the sound *quality* is much different.

My opinion:
Flowmaster is pure musclecar -- lots of deep rumble at lower RPM's; at higher RPM's it tends to just get louder, without much change in sound characteristics.

Borla is mix of musclecar and Lamborghini -- medium tone rumble at idle, but just gets better and has a very exotic snarl as the RPM's increase.

Cheers,
Kent

I have the flows and think they sound great, very little drone. I don't care for the tips, they look kinda cheap.

getting Borla Stingers put on my 08 Mustang GT as we speak. Flowmasters on a Vette just arent quite right, as a matter of fact unless you have an 85-95 Mustang 5.0 with an off-road H-pipe Flowmasters arent the same....hmmm those 5.0's sounded pretty lol ive been missing some of mine lol!

The only thing I'm not crazy about... On the other hand I spend a lot less time cleaning them than I did the stock S.S. tips... Added an exhaust filler panel(from Josh @ RPI) to dress the rear end up a bit...

Magnaflow all the way. I was in the same boat looking for an exhaust last year and went with the C6 Magnaflow Catback and it has no drone with an awesome idle rumble and better @ WOT. Cheaper than Borla's with beautiful tips and are stainless steel. Definately a quality product.

Flowmasters on my VY Coupe with manual transmission. No drone. Nice sound. Cost me about $370 at the time. Loud enough, sounds great when you stomp on it, but no drone when cruising. I've heard more drone complaints from people with automatic transimissions.

I used to have Borla Stingers on my '02 Z06. Sounded great! Much louder. Loved the sound. Gave me headaches until I bought a partition to knock down the inside drone. That worked. Never heard Borlas in person on a C6.

I figured I would try the Flowmasters and if I didn't like them I could sell them for $200 easily. Didn't need to. Love them.

You can hear them on the video in my sig.

I'm using FlowMaster American Thunder Mufflers along w/:

- Kooks Headers (1-7/8)
- Kooks X-Pipe Catless (3" - 2-1/2)
- Patriot Extreme .660 Springs
- Englandgreen Whiplash Cam

and the vehicle sounds like a beast. I can't really say anything about a drone though. I don't really pay any attention to that.

Love the FlowMaster American Thunder Mufflers!!

I have the American Thunders from Maryland Speed on my 05 Coupe (auto) and couldn't be any happier ! There is VERY little if any drone and they have that deep rumble muscle car sound at idle .I have been asked by alot of folks what kind of exhaust is on your Vette.I 'm not knocking the Borla or Corsa's but these just worked out better for me.At $671 shipped to my door (NO SHIPPING CHARGES !) I figured I came out ok. JMO

I have flowmaster and a MN6. I really don't hear the drone that everyone hates around here so much. There is drone at about 1600 to 1800 RPM which I never stay at so maybe that is why I don't hear it. Even then it is not that bad imo. I also had them professionally welded and did not use those POS clamps they come with as they are worthless. I can see more drone and rattle if you ONLY uses the clamps that come with the kit.

AS far sound I really like it and get compliments on it. For the money they are great IMO.
