I have a 2008 Crystal Red Mettalic Z51. I tried having the gas tank door air-brushed and it did not come out good. I took the gas door to my local chevy dealer to have him paint it to speck. He painted it and the colors don't match the car. He tells me he can't do anything about it. I tell him I have ordered after market parts for my car and they come through and the paint color matches.
so I tell the dealer to repaint the door. Any suggestions if he screws this one up.
I have heard it is very hard to match the paints on our cars. Someone on this forum (maybe Talon?? Can't quite remember who...) that was explaining that they paint many body panels at the plant and visually match the ones that are the closest.
Anyway, I am not surprised and I don't think there is much that can be done. Good luck though.

Who did the airbrushing? If it was someone other than the Chevy dealer, why would the dealer required to refinish it? Most dealers don't have body shops and farm it out.
since your profile isn't filled out we have no idea if you live in a one-dealer town with zero or 1 paint shop. that's a hint...
suggestion: find an excellent body shop that has painted Corvettes and ask them if they can paint the door to match. if they say something about "blending" say, thanks, and walk away. don't use them. find another shop that paints Corvettes; ask the same question.
Why would you have the fuel filler door air-brushed?
I would think a quality body shop could match the color. I'd leave the car so they have something to aim for (figuratively...not literally). If you order a new fuel filler door, does it come pre-painted? If so, order a new one in CRM and see if it matches (they can't be that expensive).
