My Wife and I were out today on a very leisurely ride on some back roads in Eastern Kansas. It was getting late so I decided to hop on the interstate. We going along with not much traffic and talking about stuff when all of a sudden a motorcycle cop in front me in the left lane puts on his lights. I did not see that it was a motorcycle cop until he turned on his lights. I look down at the HUD and realize I was about 8MPH over the speed limit. It turns out he was just making a turn at one of the turnaround. As my blood starting moving again through my body again. My wife looks at me and says were you speeding? I give the standard answer just a little.
This bring up the conversation that when driving a Vette at some point it is inevitable that you are going to get a ticket, even if you try to stay within the speed limit. It just seem that the car inches it way up when you are not on cruise control.
No, a speeding ticket isn't inevitable. On that note I'll mention the only speeding ticket I've had in 20+ years was in the Vette...but it wasn't inevitable.
I did a 600 mile return trip this week choosing the most windy roads I could find. Every now and then pulled in to a gas station to ask the vehicles going the opposite direction if and where the speed traps were. Got the green light for the whole way home!
My first ticket was at the age of 15 for driving without a license. My dad had to go to court with me, because he was in the passenger seat when I got the ticket.
I hadn't gotten a citation in 35 plus years and about a year ago a Trooper pulled me over in my company car with my boss in the passenger seat. The Trooper did not care that I was a retired cop and gave me a citation for about 20 over.
Unfortunately for the Trooper he pulled two of us over at once and gave me the other guy's ticket.
I went to court and had it dismissed. The trooper almost blew a gasket. Sweet.
Other than that I haven't even been stopped in over 20 years.
I've been pulled over about 8 times since May 07' since I've had my Vette. (27 k so far) Only got a ticket once though. (that's after being stopped by the same cop the third time!) lol. Talk about getting a break a lot. I think if police officers realize you're cool and you truly didn't mean to break the law, they'll cut you some slack. sometimes...

I got a ticket in the Commonwealth of VA in my C5 some 8 years ago, so I suppose one could say it was inevitable for me [maybe]. Having driven 8 Vettes over 33 years that has been it though. I agree that you must keep a watch on the speedometer (especially on a smooth highway). I never touch cruise control -- wish I could have deleted it for credit.
Being a police officer myself, I can tell you, most people will inevitably get a ticket REGARDLESS of what they drive. I work midnight shift generally and pull people over quite often and don't issue very many tickets on that shift. However, I work overtime enforcement shifts about three times a month and only work traffic on those shifts from 2-6 pm in the afternoon. EVERYONE gets a ticket on those shifts I work, NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!! It's just my job and that's what I'm out there to do on my traffic enforcement shifts.
