Stupid salesman
This guy was an idiot. My wife an i went to look at 2008 zo6 an we walked by this guy and he was talking about a Nissan GTR which they happen to have one. He was just talking when he said this car will spank a corvette hands down. Well this got my attention and i told him that i saw an article in a magazine about the car not doing to well on the road course. Well he then said the ZR1 and the ZO6 where both junk and they couldn't compare to the Nissan GTR. WELL WE TIED INTO IT !!!!!! I told him to take the twin turbos off the car and run the car N/A and then run his mouth. I may be wrong about the GTR but i hate foreign cars. So needless to say we didn't buy the ZO6 we went to look at i guess I'll just have to keep looking for a ZO6 but i will not buy a car from a salesman that thinks the corvettes are junk.

Maybe you should have taken that piece of junk 2008 Z06 off his hands for dirt cheep if he doesn't value corvettes.
You may have missed a sweetheart deal, if you would have played him along and convinced him that you were his best chance at ever getting rid of that Z06.

Ouch, you can get a brand new 2008 z06 cheaper than that right now. I'm getting my 2009 Z06 2LZ for $69038.33 with GMS. I was offered 2k under GMS for an in stock 2008, that minus the $1450 price increase on the 2009's would have put the 2008 around $65585. But they didn't have the color/option combo I was looking for in stock.

I have only seen one magazine article where it showed that the GT-R is faster than the Z06. To pull that off they just forgot to mention that they removed two turns out of the lap times for the GT-R. Oooops!
I think the GT-R will be able to pull a Corvette off the line for 60 feet and after that it's all about power to weight ratio. Sure a GT-R weighs just a tick under 4000 pounds, has narrower tires and less horsepower than a Z06 but what does reality have to do with the truth. I will wait until I see a Nissan go blowing pasr before I believe the hype that Nissan is trying to blow smoke up our 3:42 rear ends!

I can add a maggie on my lowly C6 Z-51 packaged Corvette and walk away from that new Nissan. Adding superchargers/turbos, nitrous etc... to a car is great but realize there is no replacement for displacement. If that nissan was naturally aspirated, it would be a joke of a race. Imagine if the Vette came with TWIN turbos. It wouldnt even be a race. You would come around that Nissan so fast that you would think he broke something. What a joke.
The stock C6 base corvette has sooooo many possibilitys too. Heads, cam, exhaust, cai and of course superchargers/nitrous/turbos etc...
What is the nissan gonna add ? Raise the boost until the heads lift ?

The job of the salesman is to get a read on a potential customer and talk them into parting with as much of their bank account as possible. He was trying to talk you into buying the car HE wanted you to buy.
The mistake the salseman made was to not size you up properly before trying to push you in the direction he wanted you to go. If he had, then he would have known you were interested in the Vette and only the Vette and then tried to make an offer you couldn't refuse.
Either that, or he was stupid and let his personal feelings get in the way of doing his job.

That was a pretty rotten experience. It would seem that the way the economy is that there aren't gangloads of people buying Vettes or GT-R's etc and if I was the sales guy I would have kept my mouth closed and made a sale GT-R ,Z06 or whatever.
The customer is always right until they sign on the dotted line.

Im on your side BUT telling the guy to take the turbos off and run the car N/A is as stupid as a Nissan fanboy telling you to shrink the Z06 engine to a 3.7 and see how fast it is. RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG. Both are awesome cars and those that trash either car and nothing but little fanboy bitches.

In most situations broad generalizations like "Corvettes are junk" or "I hate foreign cars so they must be junk" are indicative of someone who really doesn't know what they are talking about. Once you start the debate with a dealer it's game over. Whenever you want to deal on a car you need to check your ego at the door, be an objective / rationale person, and probably recognize that you may likely have differing opinions from the sales staff.
