What is the longest your C6 has sat without being started or driven, (without being on a charger) without a dead battery?
32 days while I was away on business/vacation. Then it started normally. The battery was 34 months old at that time. It is a 2005 with manual trans. (Yes, it was parked in reverse)
One guess is that OnStar may have some impact on battery life.
Good suggestion... I don't have Onstar and wonder how many do with a 2 week dead battery. I guess it would be on all the time but I really don't know anything about Onstar.........
What is the longest your C6 has sat without being started or driven, (without being on a charger) without a dead battery?
4 months. (My C5). Sat the winter months in the great white Wisconsin last winter. We are talking 20 below zero. Not only didn't I put a battery tender on it, I didn't put Stabil in the tank, or pump up the tires, or cover it. And I will be the same way with my C6 this winter. Worked just fine for me!
My 2005 MN6 has sat idle several times for up to 3 weeks...no battery tender...no priority start and no trouble. I've never had any battery or starting problems. After 3+ years I did have to replace my OEM battery which seemed about average compared to my other cars. BTW, I have OnStar too.
I let the Vette sit for 3 weeks before I stuck a tender on it. I checked it before I charged it and it was fine. I let my '06 Buick sit for 2 1/2 weeks and it was deader than dead. Had to charge it just to get the interior lights to come on, let alone start it.
I just got back from a vacation, without driving the Vette for about 3 weeks. The battery was completely dead and may have been damaged as a result. If it's damaged, I'm going to replace it with an Optima Yellow Top, D35. So, I went out today and bought a Schumacher SSC-1500A, 12V, 15A speed charger/tender. Lesson learned.
