I wave to all Corvettes. A lot of earlier generation drivers seem happy and surprised a C6Z is waving. Wish I didn't sell my 04Z already though. I really miss the trans gearing in that one.
You'll find a lot of C6'ers, including some board members here, are not traditional Corvette enthusiasts and know nothing/could care less about "The Wave". The recent and very world class competitive performance improvements of the C6, to include the Z06, have drawn in quite a few "non-Corvette" automotive entusiasts. That's not a bad thing either as it keeps fresh blood in the breed.
The wave, between Corvette owners, has been around for years. I recall, many years ago, that almost all sports car drivers, regardless of marque, flashed their headlights at each other. Yeah, I am old!
I recall an article in Corvette Quarterly, by the infamous and late Joe Pike, about the wave and encouraging all Corvette owners to participate...some have said that at one point, this directive appeared in the Owners Manual. This was from many years ago....it stuck with me and I have been wavin' and grinnin' in my Corvettes since my first one in 1966.
About 80% for the Corvette owners in California will wave back at you no matter what year your driving - the other 20% are the weirdo's that CA is know for

I would say C4 owners are the worst at waving back.. followed by C5 owners.
Hey! Easy now. . . around here it's the c3, c4 and c5 drivers that almost always wave, and about a 50/50 chance that a c6 driver will wave. Z06 drivers almost always wave, though. I think it has to do with the fact that the c6 is much more refined, and therefore attracts new owners that might be new into the Corvette scene/lifestyle (or might never get into the lifestyle.) As a side note, I certainly see a TON more women driving C6's than any other generation.
