I also own a C6 and a Silverado. Both of mine get NEW Mobile 1 at about 5k miles. I do it my self and it cost about $50 bucks. Its worth the peace of mind to me if nothing else.

The more I read this thread, the more I think you could have probably sold your company at 46 for twice as much. You seem to have a knack for jumping ship too soon.

What else you got to sell that's getting too old for you? I'm all ears!

Which brings up another question... Isn't your wife concerned about you ditching things quickly? (joking, of course). She must be smokin hot if she's still around after passing the 60% mark!

I'd say it's just plain old cheap and silly.

I wouldn't put contaminants from one engine into another ever.

I also have a new body style GMC Sierra and it gets new Mobil 1 every oil change. In fact all of my cars get brand new Mobil 1 at every oil change.

Yah next time i'll use new oil! previous poster is right there is always someone who will buy used stuff for a good price. He's right on appliances we do same and always have newer up to date stuff every 3 years! Want adds bring out people who will pay 1/2 to 3/4 of new price because there cheaper than me. AND BY THE WAY -my wife is smokin!!!!!

I'll take cheap for $1, Alex.

Kind of reminds me of the old Alaska Airlines commercials when they pumped how good their meals were and how the other guys were reusing the parsley. Of course, that was back when airlines actually had meals.

Honestly, if you're changing your own oil why even go to the trouble if you're going to put used oil in it? But, hey, it's your truck.

My buddies think i'm going overboard but it's funny when were in the shop drinking beer they borrow my hoist and are now doing the same to there trucks. We must have the cleanest vette oil around or maybe it gives us a reason to go to the shop and drink!!!
You are putting metal particles and combustion by products from one car to another. That is asking for trouble like bearings wearing out and so forth.

Are you kidding me, you own two vehicles which sticker for over 40k a piece and you are trying to save what 20 bucks on oil. Rediculous if you ask me. There is one place I have never skimped on on any car I have owned new or old and that is oil changes.

So why not just keep the oil in the Corvette until it reaches 0% and save even more money?

BTW, can I have your tires when they're at 60% tread? I'll even pay the shipping.
HA!!

I have a friend that works at a dealership changing oil....he loves it when people with Corvettes come in for a change, because invariably they do it waaay prematurely & he saves the old oil for his cars.

At least the OP didn't discard the "old" oil.

Definetly cheap... Even though the used oil may be just fine, I don't think it's a good idea to put used oil in any vehicle. Maybe in a lawn mower or an old farm tractor, but not in a car or truck.

I know people that are frugal but that's depression era mentality IMHO. If money's that tight so be it but if the approximate $30 it might cost to use fresh oil won't break you...splurge! If you're that pinchy, I suggest you get more mileage in between oil changes but use fresh, clean oil when you do change the oil. When you need tires do you buy used tires? Recaps maybe? Recycle used paper towels?

Ok Ill say it.... You are Smart. You are being very efficient with the use of Oil. Imagine if everyone did this, it would save a bunch of Oil from having to be imported and processed.. nice job...

he'd do a lot better just waiting until the oil SHOULD BE CHANGED instead of changing it early then putting contaminanted oil into his other vehicles...I think that is a NO-NO!
