not to put salt on your wounds, but, my vert has been with its battery tender since 11/15/08, i couldn't stand it anymore and had to start it up, so yesterday i got in her and pushed the start button, it started right up like it has so faithfully ever since i purchased her 2 years ago. get yourself a batterytender, and it will save you a lot of stress, honest.......
It turned out to be a dead battery. What concerns me now
is knowing that you cant jump start these cars if you are out
on the road somewhere. Before I had it taken to the dealer
I tried jump starting it with 2 different cars and also hooked up
2 batteries at the same time for a jump without getting anything
out of the starter.
what found so bad about the C6 dead battery issue is being so
hard to get in the car. With no door key access or start.
Found on mine when had to open from the trunk, door
would not shut once used the emergency release.... Had
to be flat bedded to the dealership. LOL LOL with the door
taped shut
Isn't it nice to go out to the garage, unfasten the battery tender, and hear her roar to life with the first touch of the start button? I think that C6's should come with a battery charger right from the factory.....
You have to have one if the car is going to sit for awhile.

Not true. You can jump start them if the battery is okay but just low on charge. My gut tells me you had a shorted cell in the battery. In that case you cannot jump start them, the short drains off all the energy. Given that these cars are hard on batteries, I also think Delco has had a run of bad batteries. E.G. Bought a new CTS about a year ago. Within 6-8 months, the battery crapped out and the CTS is not known to be especially hard on batteries, and yes the stock battery was, of course, a Delco battery.
There are ways around this and the battery tender is the most obvious and easiest solution. My Z now sits in the garage and is almost always on the tender. During the winter months I never know how long it will be between drives. Sometimes it's only a few days, other times it can be 2-3 weeks between drives. My 05, 07 and the 07 CTS have taught me to be leary of the GM batteries. The Ctek tender is my friend.
A battery tender is the way to go....I have one for ALL my vehicles and boats. Even have one on my generator and one on my lawn mower. Cheap insurance IMO.

That electric lock and push button starter is STUPID! They need to ditch that act for a more conventional approach especially when the Corvette is soooo prone to battery drain issues.

Good luck
Still concerned that you cant jump start them because I even tried
disconnecting the corvette battery thinking it might be a dead cell
without luck.
well dm, I don't know what's wrong with your car but my new '08 drained down in about 3 weeks of non-use. it was so low, nothing worked and I had to go in thru the trunk.
when the truck came, we carefully popped the doors, hood, etc., and he hooked up his powerful battery and the car started right up.
Contrary to what you believe, you can jump start your Corvette. If you can't, something else is going on, or you need to find someone else to give you the straight info.
I now own a battery "maintainer" and use it!
Note: I just saw a Duracell unit in Target, 2 amps, clips and socket plub, $18. Not sure how good it is; mine is a Schumacher.
Wow, I didn't realize how susceptible our Corvettes are to battery drainage.
I mean, only 3 weeks?
Is this a very common issue with all generation Corvettes, or is it C6 specific?
Any reason behind this?
Dan
c6. lot of drain items, things working in the background.

I wish we could put our C6 Vettes in a drug-induced coma when we are not driving them for a while...shut down all that battery-draining background stuff.
I've got a BT on the way. My old C3 never does this and she sits for months on end with no attention whatsoever.
