I have a c5 that I have been driving for about 2 years before I got the c6 bug because of everything I have read about how much better it is. I finally went out and bought one. The day I got to the stealership to test drive it, right when I pulled in it started to snow. By the time I was in the car the roads were getting to wet and slippery to really "try" anything that might give me an idea on its capabilities, that and having the salesman sitting in the seat next to me looking at me like this .
I bought the car and drove it for about a month now, every week starting to really see the differences in is "drivability". Last weekend I had to move the c5 out of the garage to do some car jockeying so I took it around the block just to get a feel for it again. IMMEDIATELY I was like whoa, this thing feels nothing like my c6. I then took the c5 to work on monday to get a longer test feel. BIG difference in my opinion.
They have really done an awesome job with the c6. I let my wife have the c5, I get the c6! She loves the c5 and was like "what are tyou doing driving my car....oh no you dont" when I took it to work last monday, lol. Im totally fine with that. Its a great car BUT WOW.
Have any of you noticed the difference in these models like I have? Or is it just me?
This has been discussed many times before. Most agree that the C6 is superior in almost every respect over the C5. The only thing I miss is the ability to get diagnostic codes on the DIC.
They improved the C6 with some of the things that I had modded in my C5. Like a shorter-throw shifter, more horsepower, etc. But there are really so many improvements that they are noticeably different cars. I especially like the Z51 package which has a lot of improvements including better gearing, which helps make up for the 4.10 gears I put in the C5.
It's a great car and with 32K miles I've had no mechanical problems.
I can't make a personal comparison to the C5 as I never owned one but I recall one GM engineer saying the C6 is about "80% different" than the C5. There are similarities (to the C5) to be sure but from the tires to its enhanced foundation to the redesigned suspension and on and on, the C6 is vastly different.

Thats actually one of the web sites (among others) I visited that prompted me to finally make the plunge. Thanks for the link though, I had lost where it was!
The only thing I liked more about my C5 (FRC) was the visibility from the cockpit. The C5 was nice and I loved it but when I park the C6 it is sooo hard for me not to look back as I walk away. I never did that with the C5. I hope my girlfriend never makes me choose between the C6 and her.
