I have the calibre k40. Before the brain blew a fuse, it ran great and was concealed. You can't even tell I have it and the one time I got pulled over, the cop didn't even know I had it. It's also hidden from car thieves.

I got it already installed with the car, but imo it's well worth the money.

The Passport 8500 X50 saved my *** yesterday as I pulled 6500 rpm's in third when it went off. I was able to bring it back down to 55 before the cop got a lock on me.
I thougth I was busted, so I pulled over right across from him. When I got out of the car he asked why I stopped. I told him I thought he got me speeding. He said I got you at 55 in a 45, and he was looking for bigger fish. Ebay money well spent I thought. Got it for $255 on Ebay.

Can you send other than the V1 back for updates? Or do those using Bell and the rest have to by new units?

V1 is great so is the Escort, but if you are out front and get hit with instant on, it is best to have a good Lawyer, you will need one or pay the fine and get the points that go along with it.

Best advice I can give you is to "Join your local Police Dept" You will then be a REAL Police officer, and most other cops will usually give you a "Professional Courtesy" unless you are doing something really stupid!

just a thought...

Running Vector 995 and Escort 8500 x50. Great distance when you have rabbits.

Here is a neat mount I found for the valentine one:

Here is an interesting thread about the V1 showing the features it has from the arrows that point in the direction where the cop is and also can detect how many cops are in the area, etc. Plus I was reading it online at another forum and it looks like you can turn the x band off on it?

OK, I will give you the short version. I was a "radar expert" according to the USN. They spent a ton of your money to make me one. Anybody who tells you a radar detector doesn't work is full of doo-doo. It has to work. I won't go into the specifics AGAIN but if you really want to know just private message me. Now how well it works depends on quality. Escort and V-1 are BOTH excellant. I, for a number of reasons, prefere V-1. Most of the others are very inferior. As to "just don't speed", well just don't buy a Corvette and make the rest of us look like old fogeys. Nothing, I repeat, nothing will work if you are not paying attention. A 50 million dollar destroyer ECM system is worthless if the operator is not paying attention!!!!!!!!!!!

Last point, please do away with the It is pointless and an insult to people just trying to get an answer to a question. If you don't have anything intelligent to say, best to just say nothing.

I have found that the best on the open highway is a combination of cruise control and the speedometer. City driving is the speedometer.

Ditto It saved me several times. Now, not saying I speed around alot, but there times let's say, "you don't pay attention"
Now you'll get that beeping to let you know 'Hey, time to slow down'

So on that note.......................... Time for a new toy.

Default That's a loaded question!

I use a Valentine One in the vette and my wife uses a Beltronics Pro GX65 in her BMW M3. Hand down it is the Valentine One if you have to have a radar detector. We aren't overly impressed with the GX65. My wife got nailed doing 85 in a 35 on a winding mountain road. By the time the detector made a peep she was already toast. Unlike me, she was able to sweet talk her way out of the ticket. The officer let her off with a warning and his # on his card! Sheesh! Luckily he was not there a few weeks earlier when she went for a spin in the vette and hit 120 in the same spot! So unfortunately I cannot give you a similar scenario with the Valentime One. More often than not we drive without either one though. If you are really flying it doesn't matter what you are using. They are gonna get ya. But overall I think that the Valentine One is a better unit. Well worth the extra expense. They are expensive, but so is a big ticket. Hope my two cents helps.

I've owned Escorts, Passports, and I currently own 3 Valentine V-1's. All are fine but Valentine is the best.
My last Escort only told me when to start thinking up my excuse and drag out License, registration, and insurance. Too many false alarms.
I love knowing what direction the cop is shooting me from.

Do yourself a favor you won't regret. Buy the Valentine V-1. You will LOVE IT!

DITTO! I have one in the C-6 as well as in our two Crown Vic's. I've been using them for ten years. I've encountered literally hundreds of radar traps during that time (mostly in VA) and my wife and I have not been had yet! In addition, the V-1 can be upgraded when new circuitry becomes available.
