I have a 2007 C6 A6 and experienced the same backfire a few times.
Do you have a stock tune on your 2008 A6? My 07 A6 had a Predator
tune.
I experienced the same backfiring about 4 or times in the past under the
same circumstances, but I have not experienced this occurring again
recently.
I did not throw any codes that i know of, and no engine checklight appeared or anything when it happened, so I am puzzled also, as to the
cause.
The car seems to run fine.
